Card Making to Music Challenge

Do you listen to music when you craft? Lately I’ve been crafting with Netflix but last night a few songs went through my head which caused me to pick up different pieces or think of different styles based on the tune.

This one song made me reach for my Webster’s Page paper that I’ve been hoarding. I almost forgot where I hid it!! It’s a 6×6 paper package that I got at CKC last October and when I opened it, it still smells good!! You should open a new WP package and sniff it. It’s got a REALLY sweet smell to it!

NOTE: Those outside of the U.S. most likely will not be able to see/listen to the playlist due to copyright restriction. If this is the case, just hop on to YouTube to listen and watch the video.

Get a playlist! Standalone player Get Ringtones

Isn’t the song fun? The video is pretty cool too. You need to go to YouTube to watch it though… no embedding allowed by the artist. The video was what made me go for the hodge podge of little things here and there.

Here’s my final card. Does it fit the song?

Thinking of You

Since yesterday I’ve gotten curious. I want to know how others translate music to their cards/paper crafting project. I know of another challenge site that I’ve participated in: Scrapping to Music, and the whole idea makes sense but how about a card or an altered?

So here’s my challenge for you… listen to the song and create a card/altered based on what you feel or think after. If it makes you happy try and go for a happy card. If it’s the lyrics that got you, create something based on it. If it’s making you grab that gorgeous paper you’ve been hoarding, go for it! There’s no set rules!! If you want to do a scrapbook page please do so. I just don’t want to focus on pages here since there’s already a challenge like that elsewhere. The most important part is: HAVE FUN! I know I had a great time creating the above!

Pattern paper: Webster’s Page
Stamp: WPlus9 Woodgrain Silhouette and Addition
Accessories: Prima flower, Jenni Bowlin Butterfly, chipboard, Creative Cafe rhinestone, Martha Stewart ribbon, lace, EK border punch, Fabric glue and dimensionals

You have until July 14th at midnight CST! I hope you play along!! I have a prize or two for the winner!! If you all think this is something fun and inspirational I can keep the challenge going. We’ll see how this goes for now.

  1. wow a beauty.. your card :D. I love everything about i 😀
I will have to participate in this.. I am not much of a music listener but a singer lol. Will give a go.. and I will be back 😀

  2. Oh no, another challenge?! I can’t keep up as it is, ha! ha! YOur card is lovely and so was that song, TFS! I like to listen to Pandora when I’m creating, my radio station is “New Soul” by Yael Naim, it plays great music…I call the sound Swedish music, which drives dh crazy because none of the girls are Swedish…they just have a certain sound and I call it Swedish, ha!

  3. This is a beauty, gal!! I really love the elegance and the shabbyness! I don’t think I’ll able to draw inspiration from songs…it’s tough 🙂

  4. This is gorgeous Savitri! I have so much trouble trying to work with the “Romantic” style. But I sure do love to look at it! There is so much detail and intricacy, you can really get lost in it. Beautiful girl!

I actually don’t listen to music while I craft. I usually end up doing it at night and the kiddos are in bed. And since my craft area is the formal dining room…there isn’t much privacy. LOL

    Great challenge idea!

  5. As for me, I only make cards when I feel I wanted to do. And of course, I must have my leisure time to make wonderful cards, creating lovely cards like yours is not easy. Otherwise, I have to spend most of my time during at home with my baby boy by cooking his food, cleaning him…etc.etc..just do the best for him.
Anyway, you have your style of creating your card-making way and they are simply so lovely.
