Roasted Marrow Bones

When it comes to food I’m the adventurous type. I’ll at least try anything once and I love things like tripe, pig’s feet, and bone marrow. Thanksgiving break I watched a few Andrew Zimmern’s show, Bizarre Food, and just LOVED it. Kind of wish we have cable/satellite subscription now! I can see myself being his assistant ha ha ha! Today I found this recipe by well known chef Fergus Henderson: Roasted bone marrow and it is super yummy!

Ok, so here’s a picture of my bone after it came out of the oven. I should have taken a better picture but Jovie was on the other arm and I wanted to hurry up and eat he he… It was super easy to prep and the only regret was that we didn’t have more! Oh well, next time.

This is why I love being a member of a food share, you never know what you’ll get. We got these two pounds of beef stew bones (there was quite a bit of meat on the bones)  and didn’t know what to do with them until I found Herderson’s recipe and a beef stew recipe. Beef stew still cooking! Oh, if you’re thinking that me eating bone marrows contradicts with my healthy eating habits, well, I eat well so that I can splurge on things like this and be able to eat whatever without worrying or country calories and all that sort {::SMILES}.

I do have a card! It’s a 2Sketches4You one. Kind of a hard sketch for me but I think I like the end result. Tomorrow I’ll be posting the winner for M’s sketch challenge #4. Finally, huh? For this card I used a digi paper from somewhere (I thought I knew but now I’m not sure… I’ll update this later) and the flower is from Tinkering Ink.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend! We finally got the tree up and more decorations. I swear all our lights expired this year. None from the previous years worked!!! So now we have all brand new lights that we’ll donate in a few weeks. Laters!

  1. Oh how much fun would it be to hang out with you! I *love* trying new foods. It’s one of my past times! I’ve tried so many foods many would think I’m crazy, but it’s so much fun to me! Chitterlings (aka pig intestines) and Chicken Feet to name a few. Tripe – eat that in my Pho! 🙂 Bone marrow, my grandmother told me that was the best part when I was young! LOL LOVE your photo of it, especially knowing you did it holding Miss J!

Your card is great, as usual! When I grow up, I wanna be like you! haha

  2. I thought I was the only one in the world who likes bone marrow. When I was a little girl my parents used to do all their own butchering and when the bones came out of the cooking pot all of us kids would fight over the marrow. We’d spread it on buttered bread and add a little salt. It was the best stuff ever! I love to try new foods too. It’s an adventure to me.
    Great card too.

  3. Okay, I should start by saying that I’m not very adventurous with food…odd since I’m asian and asians eat anything and everything…no food wasting. Well, I proclaim myself as a food waster:) LOL

Okay, but your card…your card is absolutely darling!

    1. we used to eat this stuff all the time when i was a kid… when you come to europe, i think you might be having it more often 😉
