M’s First Day

Posted on | September 4, 2010 | 16 Comments

Yesterday was Emma’s first day back at school. Year 2 or 1st grade!!! She looked so grown up walking to school… short but grown up! It felt a bit quiet around the house after she left but it was nice. I could go back to tidying the house while Jovie’s napping and have it be nice for a few minutes at least. It was zen-like too to not have anybody going: Mom, mom, mom, mom, can I, I can I, can I, pleeeeeeeeeeease… Ahhhhh, love and duct tape!!

I’ve also been doing last minute prepping before my “big” drive to the mainland. I cannot wait!! The driving I can do without but oh the adventure and the new things to see along the way!!! I got M’s absence paperwork submitted (it’s really strict here to take your kidlet out right at the start of the semester), got the car kit, got our paperwork together, got the house sitters for our two dogs and four chickens, and tomorrow we’re going junk food shopping. I gotta have my beef jerky. I  kind of wish I have an American car… or a car with a cup holder. Ya know a lot of cars here have either a small or no cup holder? It’s not illegal to eat, drink and drive but it’s more strict than in the US. Kind of like this case.

The other night I made a card too. It’s another sketch from Waltzing Mouse and it was challenging for me! But, after all’s done I like the end result. It’s kind of fun and still based on the sketch (squint if you can’t see it, ha!).

Waltzing Mouse Sketch #13

I got another Tim Holtz embossing folder and the other day the craft store on base had a 50% off sale and I bought a few Tattered Angels glitter mist and did some spraying.

Waltzing Mouse Sketch #13

Except for the Waltzingmouse sentiment  (L’il Buddies) and the round circles (COMING SOON at the WM shop!!) on the tag everything you see came from two digital kits that I got from Sweet Shoppe Designs: My Wish for Him by Kristin Cronin-Barrow and Family Time by Penny Springman. These two kits are full of awesome goodies. Great for hybrid projects AND a lot of digital scrapbooks!!! Doesn’t my new little Samsung laser printer print beautifully? Love that thing!!

For more visual and feel I added some twine and Making Memories pom-poms ribbon. Oh, sewing again and now I wish I have a machine with more stitches!!

Ok, have a great one!

Fun Sunday

Ever After

At least I hope it’ll be. The girls and I are planning on going to IKEA and a beach nearby it. Then on the way back we’re going to drive through the town where the summer 2012 Olympics will be. I dunno, just curious I guess. So, hopefully the weather will be decent and we can all have a nice shopping + outdoorsy time.

Here’s my day two of WPlus9′s Sept. release countdown project: A fun card AND I colored!!!! I used water pencil, Prismacolor, for the coloring and SU’s blending pen. I dunno about you pro colorers but I think it looks pretty dang good. If not, amuse me on this one and just tell me I did awesome, ha!

The background of the card was texturized using Tim Holtz’ embossing folder. I have four now since two comes in a package and love how crisp the textures are. Then I added some digital paper, both by Zoe Pearns at Sweet Shoppe Designs. See how vibrant the paper colors are? My cheap laser did it. LOVE that little thing!!! For the tag… well I found it. I have no idea where it came from but oh so perfect for my rose! Then I added some Martha Stewart’s double sided satin ribbon (I always try to go double sided if at all possible, just prettier), twine, button which was threaded with pink baker’s twine, and a little petal. Stamped the rose, colored, and added a sentiment. Oh, don’t forget the little extra petal on the bottom right. See? Oh, see some sewing too? Likey my sewing machine better now!

Ever After

So that’s it. Wish us girls luck and if we don’t go, Ill tell you why. Do visit the other chick’s blogs if you haven’t done so. Lots of goodies to look at!!

Have a great one!!!

Cute as a Bee

Mischief Maker 12

It’s a weekend again, YEA!!!!!! We’re not sure what we’ll be doing but for sure I have a little card created using this week’s new sketch from Waltzingmouse aka the Mischief Makers, sketch #12. It’s a bit busy BUT, wouldn’t a little four-yr-old love this little number?

Here’s a close-up of the card:

I used Tim Holtz embossing folder again. I really LOVE!! Then I tied two seam bindings together into a pretty bow. These seam binding were normal ones that I scrunched up. My camcorder is in the mail somewhere. After I get it I’ll share with you how I scrunch up my seam bindings.

Waltzingmouse 12

I pretty much just layered a bunch of different pieces. Trimmed out the butterfly and bees, added some ink splattering, and little fun pieces here and there. I colored too with Copic markers… I know, it’s not impressive being able to color little bits of yellow on some bees with $6/ea markers. I should just use Crayola markers with my coloring talent, huh? {::SMILES}.

Do check out to see what the other DTs made, so so awesome this week… better than last (if that’s even possible).

Want Consignment Store!

Hybrid

One of my friend told me that I could afford new clothes. Why go to a consignment store she asked. It’s really not about whether I can afford it or not but it’s all about reusing and recycling. Plus, if you go to a nice store a lot of the stuff in there are not only brand names but also almost new (or new, with price tags and all)! I miiiiiiiissss going to one! When I did go I’d spend $50-$100 and leave with what it could have been a few hundred dollars of almost new brand name clothes. LOVED it!! I’ve heard that London has a few but so far I haven’t found any around here for me. There are charity shops or second hand stores but they’re not the same. Charity shops are similar to the Salvation Army/Goodwill and second hand stores sells used stuff – can be anything.

Just another thing that I miss about America. I have to say, as nice as the shops are here and there are tons of sales too, they can’t the capitalist country of the world. Even Singapore, which is suppose to have awesome sales, wasn’t as good as the U.S. in my opinion. No wonder folks who go back to the U.S. after being overseas shop, shop, shop, and shop some more.

So here’s a little card using Practicing Creativity’s stamp and some digital paper by Zoe Pearns at Sweet Shoppe Design: Alphabet Soup for boys. Isn’t the paper CUTE?!?!

Alright, I’ll make this short. I can’t type. My right index finger got eaten by the shed door. I’ve got a huge cut on the side and it HURTS when I type. I’m only typing using nine fingers.

Laters!!

Thinking of You

Hi again peeps! I hope it’s a happy Wednesday for you! I can’t believe it’s mid-week already!! We’ve had a very busy and important morning and I can’t wait until tomorrow! It’s  the start of WPlus9′s countdown. Awesome awesome stamps I tell you! If you liked Mehndi (I used it on the above card) you’ll LOVE the new releases!! Not only are they gorgeous, they are also very versatile. Friday I have a few fun announcements. I can’t wait to share them with you!!

Ok, that’s it for now. I want to make it sweet and short. Too many things going in my head and going through two different language audio tape is NOT good for my little gray cells. This is me: Ich mochte eine Kaffee, s’il vous plait (translate: I want a coffee (German), please (French)). I also say Kaffee like the French cafe. Aaahhh… I am though starting to like the Rapid German and French the music first annoyed me but now it’s tolerable. I think the audio files are working on me. I woke up with a few German sentences this morning! Laters!
