Happy Birthday M + Goodbye

Posted on | February 5, 2009 | 4 Comments

Soccer It’s M’s bday today! She had a little party at school and looking forward to all her surprises at home. She CAN’T wait! My baby’s five! Wow, time sure flies. I remember seeing her for the first time almost five years ago (she was born after 8 p.m. and came right on her due date). It was around this time that my water broke. The memories {::SMILES}. I’ll share more tomorrow on her special day. With pics and stuff.

The goodbye… my time is up at SoSketchy. This is my last LO as a DT (used a lot of Scarlet Lime Oct. goodies and Maya Road chipboard). It’s been fun, Ally’s a great sketcher and scrapbooker+cardmaker, and I’ll miss the “seniors” that are still there now. In May I plan on either not be in any team or just have one with little requirements. This way I can focus on baby W (still tossing around names) and M. I still plan on making something as often as I can but I don’t want any deadline or worst, not meet some due to my new schedule.

I also have plans on quiting the SU demo-ship. I only have a couple buyers and myself and it’s been fine keeping up with the minimum but with a new baby, I think I rather use the money for her. If somehow I can keep my min. without me buying so much I’ll continue but if it’s not the case, June will be my last month (or Sept. if I go pending first). I started it to build up my collection. I have a nice stash now and with so many companies out there I want mix my collection up. I love SU items (and will still post lots of cards with SU stuff) still but if you just LOVE to stamp, you got to have them all (or at least a bit of everything), right?

I have a full-time job and I do teach 1-2 classes/semester (except summer) so my schedule is already crazy as is. I want to enjoy my family and do my hobby when I feel like it and do whatever inspires me most at the time. If you can help me stick to it, that’d be awesome! I have a hard time settling down.

Valentine-ish

1st Date in 2009 A digi-page of hubby on our first date of 2009 – our little excursion to Lexington, MO. This kit is SOOOO lovely! It’s from Shabby Pickle and it’s by New Life Design, Life to Love kit. For this page, I layers, and layered, and layered. That’s the beauty of digital pages, it’s so much cheaper to go buck wild crazy on your pages.

The sketch is from SoSketchy. My time with them is almost over. I have one more sketch and that’s it. I’d love to re-apply but with baby coming up, I’ve decided to take it easy a bit. Many of my DT responsibilities will end this summer, so it’ll work out just great with my maternity leave. I know I’ll be home and all that but most likely, if it’s anything like when I had M, I’d just want to sleep with the kid’s asleep {::SMILES}. I’ll still create stuff and maybe apply for one or two guest posts and hope to get accepted but nothing long term until we all get a feel of the new babe.

There’s a funny story related to this kit… Before Christmas I received an email from Shabby Pickle and the content, a gift certificate. WOAH I thought, SPD’s generous. I love that store but in reality I’ve been watching my spending there. I only buy when it’s on sale and I really pick and choose. Come to find out the GC was from my blog sis, Lori. There was a secret sister swap and she was my big sister. There was no note in the email — well the email that came it was messed up to begin with. A few days later she emailed me asking if I received a GC from SPD and I replied back saying something like, “Yeah, weird cause I haven’t spent that much to deserve such a GC. Did you get one too?” Of course she said no and she explained that it was her who sent it. Ahhh, dumb me!!! So thanks Lori, here’s the first page that I created with one of my downloads using your GC!!!

This Begging Face

Pleeease This child has got me around her little fingers. Look at that face. How can I say no? I do though… tough, but I do. Us parents are going to feel sorry for the poor dude who’s going to one day get this. Ahh…

I created this using a SoSketchy Sketch. Ally is so so good with sketches. Check her out, she does scrapbook pages and cards. For this layout I used Kasia’s kit: Wish for Tomorrow. Love her stuff! While you’re at Shabby Pickle check out their sale. I’m no CT there but lately most of my purchases have been from them… always waiting for a sale {::SMILES}.

What a weekend! Saturday was hubby’s Christmas party. Last year I didn’t stay long but this year I was “babysitting” hubby and I found a few girls to talk to (I don’t go to a lot of the social functions at his work so I am an Air Force wife retard with very little AF spouse friends). Hubby got really silly drunk and people came up to me saying, “I can see why he was called wildman.” Ha! Or, a couple said, “I want to be like him when I grow up.” Hmm… which part? I had to make sure he was behaving. He didn’t drink a ton but enough to make him sing and dance (with everybody). Now THAT was entertainment. I only wish I had brought the Flip and the few times that I wish I had a little digital camera. There was a girl that fell on her back too. I was waiting for her dress to fall off but instead her whole body slipped during a dance. I am a bad person, I know. It was hard not to think that way since she danced so hard which made her sleeveless dress slip often and her adjusting it each time.

Sunday… well, of course somebody was sick (he doesn’t drink often). By noon he was fine and we made our cornbread and rice for community supper. Last night’s supper was yummy. Chili and corn chowder. People were a bit weirded out with the rice with Chili but everybody who tried it thought it was yummy. I loved it but hey, I’m Asian. I can eat anything with rice {::SMILES}. Helping out at the community supper event amazes me. These people have very little but some are so picky about their food. A few even calls in to find out what the menu is or if we have wheat bread instead of white. I thought that if I were poor and needed warm (free) food I’d eat anything. Oh well.

Have a great one. I only have this week work wise and after that I am off for two weeks! YEAH!!!!

Waiting

Waiting How’s your weekend? Mine’s been nice. I even made it church and signed up, again, to help out at the St. Nick’s workshop (where kids 3-8 make crafty gifts for their loved ones) and signed M up too to make some goodies. She had a lot of fun last year!

Before I go on, I want to let you know that I will post a few baby news here and there here but I’ve started another blog just for our upcoming new addition. I’ll post products, parenting info and more… whatever I find that I can share and also as a pregnancy journal (since I’m horrible with a paper one).

This week… We were going to be gone this week, to Mississippi, but no. Work takes over sometimes and so we’re staying. It doesn’t bother me either way, but I am looking forward to cooking us a (small) dinner and putting Christmas stuff up. I have lots of great intentions for M and I in terms of crafty (not just paper craft) goodness but we’ll see. I have a few gifts I want to make for a few special friends and family. It’s kind of nice that I only have two relatives in the U.S. and my parents don’t celebrate Christmas and Christmas in Indonesia isn’t quite bombarded with gifts like it is here.

This Christmas I want to try and do more handmade goods. I’m hoping they’ll all be by me but if not, Etsy will help me {::SMILES}.

This page was created using a sketch by SoSketchy. M and Shady were fighting over the right corner spot, the best (closest is best to them) spot to look at dad who was working outside. They both were waiting for him to come in. Look how rough M was to Shady and Shady did move for her. Ahh… naughty M.

Alright, have a great week and I’ll post more later!!

Bavaria Trip

Posted on | October 24, 2008 | 6 Comments

Bayern After a year I am somewhat motivated to do more vacation pictures from last year. These pictures were taken at Sonnenhof, in Horn which was 15 minutes walk from Neuschwanstein aka Ludwig’s castle aka the Sleeping Beauty castle, a small B&B, which Rick Steve described it as a big, woody, old house with four spacious, traditionally decorated rooms and a cheery garden.

From our room we could see Hohenschwangau. It was gorgeous!! Well worth the 45 Euro (cheapest stay that week!) per night. We accidentally found this hotel. It was a weekend and we didn’t book a room. We looked everywhere and no room. We were about to give up but decided to check if this one place who had a “zimmer frei” sign in front of their home have a room. They didn’t but the owner asked us to follow her after telling us that her home was full. So we followed and we came upon the Sonnenhof. At that point we didn’t care what the room fee would be so we were super delighted to find out that it was only 45 Euro. Our room didn’t have a private bathroom. The one room that did was available but we opted out of it because of the view from our no bathroom room. At the B&B we met three other American couples. Two of the couples were around our age with one little girl and the other couple were older. We had a great visit with them and enjoyed a two nights stay since it was so inexpensive and also just plain gorgeous in that area.

So here’s the page. Bayern is what the Germans calls Bavaria. I made this a month ago for SoSketchy and I kind of forgot what the materials were. I think the papers were KI and Making Memories. The alpha’s American Craft and Sassafrass Lass, the flower is My Mind’s Eyes and the strawberries is K&Company. The strawberries were added because the B&B had a little strawberry patch.
