A SoSketchy Page

Posted on | December 11, 2008 | 8 Comments

Thanksgiving Weekend Shoot Here’s a page that I did based on a SoSketchy sketch. Awesome sketch!!! It’s an 8.5×11 sketch but really, you can adjust sketches to whatever size you want.

If you look really closely I followed the sketch. Instead of three pictures, I have a vertical one on the left and one horizontal piece on the right. Instead of journaling, I did an elements collage on the bottom right. There are three strips of different pattern paper behind the pictures and there is a circle or half circle behind the bird on the top left. The rest… just got digi happy with Bisontine’s Noel Chic kit at Shabby Pickle. Love love!!!

Ok… I didn’t know this… but I went to the post office yesterday to mail out a couple packages and the clerk asked if I have cards inside the packages. I said yes and he charged me an extra $.42. WHAT!?!?! I was surprised, thought it was a new thing. It was the first time for me. But when I got back to work, my colleague said it’s been like that. Wow! It seems so weird, I mean I’m already paying for the weight, with card included, that I think my card shouldn’t be charged extra. Oh well… now I know.

I was so proud of myself though since I got a few cards and packages out earlier than usual. Have a great day!!!

First of all, hubby thought I was nuts when I sent him the email which you’ll (maybe) read below. You tell me. our friend said she peed after reading my email.

Here are our fur babies! Maximus Monk the Lhasa and Shady the Terrier mix. Both were rescued, Max from a rescue and Shady from the humane society. I used Ally’s sketch from SoSketchy for this. Oh so cute!! Used my Sweet Spuds June kit and some animal stickers from Creative Imagination.

The story… Shady was rescued the day before she was suppose to be put to sleep. Hubby said she was soooo ugly with hair to the floor. When he picked her up from the hair dresser, he thought she was a different dog. It took him a few months to win her affection but once he did, she was daddy’s little girl (probably why she’s so iffy with M). Shady is probably the sweetest dog you’ll know!

My Max was from a HUGE (borderline puppy mill) breeder. Supposedly Missouri has a high puppy mill rate. Until he was rescued Max never knew what grass was. Since he never saw grass, he would not go pee outside when we went out (he took to the peepee pad just like that though). For a couple of months him and I would be going in (to his crate) and out for a good 30 minutes before he’d pee. Finally we got a routine going and he’d pee on command for me. BUT, not for hubby. So I sent him and email with instructions (my friends have seen this email… it’s old). Keep in mind that I loved watching Cesar Millan and I’ve read maybe five training books and a bazzillion message board posts before sending this email… so this was all new found knowledge compiled together that worked for me. The piddling… Max piddled each time you pick him up, lasted a few weeks. He’s ok now.

Take Max out, please.
When you get home, don’t let him out right away.
Just ignore him and give him a good 5 minutes.

Get some snacks.
I have some chicken in the fridge.
It’s only for SPECIAL training.
Like the below.

Before you open his crate, make sure he’s not scratching. Kneel down, put your hand on the crate lock, and just keep it there ’til he’s quiet. Usually he’ll back away from the door and just sit there. He’s been better at this and he hasn’t piddled… so we’ll see. Give him a snack.

Then put him on the leash (make sure he’s calm and not fight him before putting it on), make sure you say, “Max, go potty?” in a happy voice. He’ll drink first (water outside front door) and then go. He’s been quicker but make sure he goes and be PATIENT. Walk around a bit and you can tell when he pees.

When he’s going, just say “good potty” really calm and then pet him good with lots of praises after and give him a snack. Usually he’ll poop after but you got to walk around again and his butthole will be a bit bigger when he’s ready. Then he’ll do his poop squat and go. Pet pet pet, praise, and snack.

If he doesn’t go, stick him back in the crate and do it all over again.

Thanks {::SMILES}

hubby’s email respond: You are out of your mind!

I didn’t think I was asking too much. I was very reasonable! Now, Max is a happy, he can pee and poo on his own outside. If you have a problem pup, follow my directions! It will work! HA HA!!!

M’s Little Man

Brother It’s a So Sketchy Friday (YAAAY it’s FRIDAY!!!) and this is what I made for the August Sketch. Check the site out and also see what Kristii made. I hate it that Ally paired me up with Kristii for this sketch… her page is always oh so amazing and just blows me away!!!

This sketch was super fun and if it wasn’t for So Sketchy, there’s probably no way I’d come up with this layout design. I did some stamping too, I used Inkadinkado’s stamp. See the birdies on top of M’s head? This little guy is our great friends’ little man. We baby sat him one day (and M LOOOOVES it when Ms. Guen watches her)… oh wait it was more Emma watching him and hubby supervising while I was cropping… and this was what these two did. Looked cute and looked cute. Yeah, they didn’t quite do anything else… oh, they pooped and pee too, ha! M loves this little guy SOOO much. She was like a big sissy to him that day. Super cute!

Material:

Bazzill Cardstock, SEI papers (super old), Karen Foster, Basic Grey rub-ons, PTI Shapes stamp, American Craft alpha, Close to My Heart rub-ons (won it at a crop), Tim Holtz tickets, not sure what embroidered flower sticker, old Prima flower, Inkadinkado stamp, and K&Company alpha stickers (super old too).

You can to Flickr to see a close-up of the embellishments. Just click on the image above. The line going around the left side, that’s my journaling. I don’t have the page in front of me now but it just said how these silly two get a long and how M’s always so sweet to him and that on this day, she treated him just like if he was her sweet little brother.

TFL and have a GREAT Friday!!!

Daddy's Girl Another So Sketchy layout. I love this sketch! Why? I got to use the edges of my Pink Paislee paper!

Material:

Pattern paper: Pink Paislee and Sassafrass
Cardstock: Bazzill
Embellishments: Prima, Basic Grey rub-ons
Alpha: American Craft
Ink: SU

Hint: DON’T use Craft ink on foam. It’ll NEVER dry! I heat gun’d it, I laid it out for a couple days, I dabbed it with tissue… wet! The end of the 3rd day I just stuck it in my book with a paper towel on top of the “GIRL.” Now… well, I need to check.

I love these pics of M and dad. M wasn’t close to dad when she was little so every little moments like this (which probably lasted three minutes) was precious. Dad was not around much soon after (his work schedule was horrible then) she was born and he left for CA when she was three months. The first time we visited she was fine, but the next ones (we visited every three weeks) were not so eventful. It came to the point where she wouldn’t let him feed, change, or hold her without fussing unless I was there. She just wanted mom because dad was just like any other stranger (she wasn’t stranger friendly when she was a baby). Things didn’t get any better when a few months later he was sent overseas. We did everything we could to keep them close, web cams, video stories, phone calls, etc. but nope, not into dad. I was out studying one day (grad school) and hubby called. I couldn’t hear what he said but I could clearly hear M crying. Screaming bloody murder. I think in between that I heard hubby said, “come home, NOW, NOW, come home!!!” It wasn’t until she was three that she got comfortable with dad. The first time I went to an overnight conference she cried on the phone missing me. Now she’s all over him and they’d have fun together when I’m gone but for the most part, she’s still very much a momma’s girl.

While in Cali, hubby got a new tattoo, that’s what he was trying to show. It says “Emma” on it. I’ll take a good pic of it sometimes. M on that trip had the most horrible diaper rash but she was still such a happy girl AND sucking her thumb. She still does, that turd!

Another geek-dio for you IF you have a Facebook account. Do you know that you can do this… feed your blog content or anything really that has an rss into Facebook? This is for lazy people like me… who are too lazy to even login to it, he he…

–> High quality video here <–

So now, even if I don’t log in, my Facebook friends can read my blog posts, Tweets, and see my Flickr uploads. Cool, huh? Now, wish MySpace’s rss reader is this nice. Unfortunately, NOT! Personally, I don’t like MySpace, and I haven’t been in there for weeks either. Have a great one!!

FREEBIE: Oh I Love My Miss M

Little Miss M Scrapbook Page Another So Sketchy page. If you haven’t checked them out, I seriously think you should. Especially if you LOVE to scrapbook. Even if you like or have been wanting to start, this is a great place to go. I love sketches because it gives me the opportunity to focus on my pictures and my layout content. The design is already there! The same with cards. If I just do my own thing, I might get stuck doing the same thing over and over again. That’s why here and there I love to work on a card sketch to get me out of my usual style.

This kit is a kit by Corina Nielsen. If you go to her blog, you can download this same exact kit for FREE (she also has a CT call!) I love this chick’s stuff. She’s multi talented and just says whatever’s on her head. I wish I can be like that but as my hubby said, I’m a bit too uptight, ha! So this girl, she’s a scrapbooker and she does them all, digi, paper, hybrid. Awesome, awesome stuff. I saw that she registered as a sister at SIStv and so now I can favorite her work. She’s also a digital designer who sells at Funky Playground (Jofia Devoe fans… go to FPD… she’s July’s guest designer) AND she’s Prima’s designer. The one I know on top of my head is the Dude collection which I also have. She use to sell at Prima Hybrid but dunno what’s going on there but a lot if not all of the initial designers are not there now. Actually the whole digital Prima section is quite bare.

Anyhow, Corina holds a special place in my heart because the first scrapbook page that will be published in Sept. was created using one of her kit. Since I found her blog after my first purchase, I’ve been her blog stalker ever since. WARNING: Don’t click on her blog link above if you live near a Target… you might be sorry {::SMILES}.

So, go over to her blog and get this awesome kit while it last. It’s stinkin free and it’s super duper cute. I think I used everything in there. Oh, I extracted a lot of item from her paper – doing that made my page look Hambly-ish don’t you think? I love to trim my traditional paper and so I did the same with my digital paper. The difference: SOOO much easier in Photoshop but trimming is so relaxing. Cheaper than therapy for sure, ha!!

Ok, have a GREAT weekend! Have fun with the kit too if you decide to download. I hope to get a card created sometimes this weekend. I haven’t been motivated this week. I just have been feelin’ like scrapbooking. I made four more pages this week but just one card.
