My New Do and Belly

Posted on | January 24, 2009 | 17 Comments

Self Timer Ok… so here it is! What a great day, not only did I get a haircut but I got to donate my hair to Locks of Love. I didn’t know my hair was that long! I told my hairdresser that I should probably wait a few more months so that I could donate my hair. She looked at me, measured my hair, and said that my hair was longer than I thought. Wowser! So yes yes yes, my first hair donation. M was there, her hair is long, and she said that when she decides to chop her hair off she wants to donate too. So sweet!

So here it is. My belly shot, 21 weeks and two days. My belly literally just popped yesterday. Before that, unless you know I’m pregnant, it wasn’t that obvious (well, except after I eat or drink a lot, ha ha!). I’ve gain a bit of weight, I can see it on my buttocks, arms, and face.

A lot of effort went into this photo shoot. I never did get an excellent picture (all are blurry). Hubby was asleep (he’s been on night shift this week… Thursday night being the last night) when I came home from the beauty salon and couldn’t wait for him to get up… wanted to take the pics in natural lighting. I’ve never used the self-timer before and I finally got the hang of it (focusing) AFTER the shots. It was so easy, I felt stupid. Then M would not leave me alone. She wanted to be in ALL the pictures. The last two shots, M was in them too… underneath me. Both times I sat on top of Emma. Ha ha ha. What at terrible mom!!! Oh, don’t forget the dog… yes, Max had to be in the way too. It was great!

So here it is. It was A LOT of work getting these pictures!!! Have a great weekend. I’ll be gone gone gone Saturday. Crap, I should go to bed! I have an all day crop at the scrapbook store in a few hours. 10 a.m. to midnight, baby! I hope to have a lot of stuff to share — if I get the mojo. Ya know {::SMILES}.

Material:
Frames from Weeds and Wildflower (Gina Huff), polka dot paper by Jazzmin (Shabby Pickle), Ornament by Bisontine (Shabby Pickle), and the rest by Kasia (Shabby Pickle).

Did I ever show you how to make scallop paper in Photoshop? Like the top right there? Super super easy! Maybe I’ll do a video this coming week and show you!

Valentine-ish

1st Date in 2009 A digi-page of hubby on our first date of 2009 – our little excursion to Lexington, MO. This kit is SOOOO lovely! It’s from Shabby Pickle and it’s by New Life Design, Life to Love kit. For this page, I layers, and layered, and layered. That’s the beauty of digital pages, it’s so much cheaper to go buck wild crazy on your pages.

The sketch is from SoSketchy. My time with them is almost over. I have one more sketch and that’s it. I’d love to re-apply but with baby coming up, I’ve decided to take it easy a bit. Many of my DT responsibilities will end this summer, so it’ll work out just great with my maternity leave. I know I’ll be home and all that but most likely, if it’s anything like when I had M, I’d just want to sleep with the kid’s asleep {::SMILES}. I’ll still create stuff and maybe apply for one or two guest posts and hope to get accepted but nothing long term until we all get a feel of the new babe.

There’s a funny story related to this kit… Before Christmas I received an email from Shabby Pickle and the content, a gift certificate. WOAH I thought, SPD’s generous. I love that store but in reality I’ve been watching my spending there. I only buy when it’s on sale and I really pick and choose. Come to find out the GC was from my blog sis, Lori. There was a secret sister swap and she was my big sister. There was no note in the email — well the email that came it was messed up to begin with. A few days later she emailed me asking if I received a GC from SPD and I replied back saying something like, “Yeah, weird cause I haven’t spent that much to deserve such a GC. Did you get one too?” Of course she said no and she explained that it was her who sent it. Ahhh, dumb me!!! So thanks Lori, here’s the first page that I created with one of my downloads using your GC!!!

It’s Friday!!!!

Thankful Here’s a digi page (again) of my cutie patootie (only child for a few more months) girl. I used Lydia’s kit from the Shabby Pickle for this LO.

Today is my last day at work. Yeah! I am really looking forward to staying home for two weeks. The perk of working in education. Although I enjoy all my breaks and so look forward to them, I cannot imagine life without having a career. I think I am more productive when I have a job. I am a lazy ass when I am not on a schedule or with a deadline.

Last night M did her program oh so perfectly. Not only did she memorized her parts she also got extra parts because a few kids were sick or did not want to participate. I guess the teachers found out that M knew everybody’s parts and when asked if she’d like to do this and this and that she said ok. Early in the a.m. she was nervous but by noon she said she was ready for it. We were oh so proud of her {::SMILES}. If it only had her I’d share the video with you all but since others kids are in the video, I rather not.

After the program we stopped at the store and picked up a few things for her party today. For M I also picked up a couple work books. One was a 5-6 yr-old Kindergarten basic and the other one was an accelerated one with extra activities. Well, in less than an hour she went through 27 pages of exercises in the first book. I was ready to be done by page five but she wanted to keep going. We’d do a couple examples together and after that she’d pull the book closer and said, “I got it, I can do it myself now.” It was so cute. She wrote the letters, numbers, read letters and numbers and found missing pieces and did mazes. We did a few of the accelerated one too but we didn’t have crayons handy (I was too lazy to get up) so that’s tonight’s activity. The only thing I need to figure out is how to teach her to read. Right now she can only tell me what the first letter of a word starts with or the sounds of different letters but no reading. She did figure out how to spell dog and cat though but can’t read them. Weird. She already knows how to do basic addition and subtraction.

Have a great weekend and I’ll post more when I get a chance!!! Tomorrow, we’ll be out and about in the city. IF the weather is driveable.

A SoSketchy Page

Posted on | December 11, 2008 | 8 Comments

Thanksgiving Weekend Shoot Here’s a page that I did based on a SoSketchy sketch. Awesome sketch!!! It’s an 8.5×11 sketch but really, you can adjust sketches to whatever size you want.

If you look really closely I followed the sketch. Instead of three pictures, I have a vertical one on the left and one horizontal piece on the right. Instead of journaling, I did an elements collage on the bottom right. There are three strips of different pattern paper behind the pictures and there is a circle or half circle behind the bird on the top left. The rest… just got digi happy with Bisontine’s Noel Chic kit at Shabby Pickle. Love love!!!

Ok… I didn’t know this… but I went to the post office yesterday to mail out a couple packages and the clerk asked if I have cards inside the packages. I said yes and he charged me an extra $.42. WHAT!?!?! I was surprised, thought it was a new thing. It was the first time for me. But when I got back to work, my colleague said it’s been like that. Wow! It seems so weird, I mean I’m already paying for the weight, with card included, that I think my card shouldn’t be charged extra. Oh well… now I know.

I was so proud of myself though since I got a few cards and packages out earlier than usual. Have a great day!!!

Pink Christmas

Posted on | December 9, 2008 | 7 Comments

Merry Christmas I have these leftover digital paper from Nikki Beaudreau that I felt the need to use. I am not sure if it’s still for sale or not but you can check her out at Shabby Pickle.

I’ve had this stamp set for a little while. This is the first time I’ve ever used it. I had fun coloring it with some Copic markers. I also dug out my Cuttlebug and used one of the border embossing template for the zig-zag bottom. The sentiment I wrote myself. I couldn’t find anything to fit the design… I guess I could have done a circle on the right but nah {::SMILES}.

Another simple card and besides the white cardstock where the stocking’s stamped on everything else is adhered with dimensionals. The ribbon is from Martha Stewart.

Ok, this post is going to be short and sweet. I will create and post more later… I think a Kristina color challenge is next… we’ll see… the colors are not calling me yet.

Have a great one!!
