Mother

Happy weekend! It’s raining here and we’ve all been lazy. What’s better than cuddling and sharing some love + giggles in bed on a rainy Saturday morning? Of course M was in the middle… her favorite spot {::SMILES}.
Here’s another hybrid card, again my Matahati (Girly Girl – Scrap Orchard), PTI “mother” stamp, and the flower by me. My mom taught me how to make this one when she was here. This is the first I’ve made (I only watched her do it) and I thought it’d be appropriate if I gave my first creation to her for mother’s day. Mother’s day isn’t celebrated in Indonesia (where she’s at) but hey, why not, right? You can use any type of ribbon but the wired ones are best I think unless you make a smaller flower. The wire really help the shape — very easy to fluff the flower up.
Alrighty, I’m off to make a huge brunch: homemade pancakes, grass fed pork sausage, farm fresh eggs, and grits. My pancakes are getting better. I’ve been practicing this last year so that one day I can have a bed & breakfast he he…
Hi Baby!

No I’m not at the hospital posting AND having a baby. Baby’s kicking the crap out of me now but no, she’s still cozy inside. I’m 33 weeks tho… oh counting down!!! In the meantime, my friends are having babies. WOW, you can’t believe how many friends I have that are having babies between March and July! I can’t keep up who’s having a boy and a girl either so until I get the announcements I don’t usually send the card {:SMILES}.
This is an almost exclusive hybrid card (kit from Matahati Design, currently April guest at the DigiChick, called Spring Medley). This kit has AWESOME papers!!! Actually Matahati has great papers in general for paper crafting. You can see her store at Scrap Orchard. Now, can I love my own work or is that just too snobbish? But I think this is the cutest card I’ve ever made. I just love the Damask and color on the pattern paper! The none hybrid items are the PTI BABY stamp, ribbon, button, twine, and cardstock. I did some Scor-It-ing on the brown paper too, see? Amy‘s been scoring like crazy so I thought I’d join the fun he he…
While I was kit browsing, I saw this lovely:
I just downloaded a few this week so got to wait and I need to find some pics or take some that will fit the kit but oooh, isn’t that just so so lovely?
Have a great Friday! More later!!!

First of all: I’ll get the blog candy winner announced on my next post!
I have a little digi page to share today. I use the same kit from yesterday’s card, the Matahati Design Vintage Charm from Scrap Orchard. The flower on the top left and bottom right I extracted from a pattern paper. I like to digi scrap like paper scrapping so I’d “cut” out images from different pattern papers. It’s tons easier in digi than traditional sometimes. I actually have a video tut for it if you’re interested – and other extracting methods in my digi tut video stash.
My in-laws left this morning which means I have the craft/guest room back. M had a great time with them. We’re also cat sitting for a few months. Cute cute thing but she’s still hissing now and then. She let me pet her last night and this morning but she still hates the dogs. I’ll take some shots of her when she’s more comfortable with the family and house. I think I’ll clean first before I get to crafting tho and oh, cut the dogs’ hair. Yes, I am the dog groomer too. Made the $150-ish Andis dog hair trimmer purchase so so worthwhile (bought it in the spring of 2007 and it’s still awesome — more less this model — I got mine at Petco with a coupon or it was on sale cause a new model was coming out… didn’t pay the full price for sure). Two dogs at $35/trim, paid this thing off in two grooming sessions!! If you want to save some $$ and cut your own dog’s hair don’t be stingy. We did the stingy route and so not worth it. Took a few hours instead of an hour for both dogs. Cough up the $$$ and you’ll have a “smooth” cutting time. Now, if your dog can’t stay still, it might just be worth the $35/trim at the groomer {::SMILES}. But try putting him/her on a table first to see if s/he will stay put.

It’s Monday!!! Here’s another 2Sketches4You card based on Kazan’s sketch #23. Fun fun sketch! It’s got a lot of possibilities!! This week’s sponsor is Sakura America. I love their embossing pen. So cool. You write, it’ll be on clear, and when it dries the ink will puff up and give your card a wet emboss effect. LOVE it!!! The sweet and hi were written using my personal Sakura pens. You can’t see the raised text but they’re there.
This card was created using digital items. I downloaded this from Scrap Orchard, a kit by Matahati Design: Vintage Charm. Lately I’ve only been downloading digi kits that have a lot of elements that I can layer on one page or kits with awesome printing possibilities. This is one… cute fairy, a tag, and the flower. The papers are great too, just like those you’d find at a scrapbook store. For these, I just opened the pattern paper (in .jpg format) and print. For the elements, I plopped them in Microsoft Word, resized, and print on one page (I always print more than I need… I share with M). So no, to play hybrid, you don’t need anything fancy like Photoshop although if you want a free image editor you can always download and installed Gimp.
