Hybrid Weekend
Posted on | March 28, 2009 | 4 Comments
How’s your weekend? It’s wet and cold here! I just came back from Kansas City. I had high hopes of doing some shopping but the weather just wouldn’t let me. I went there for a surprised shower, that was really fun, at PF Chang’s and besides Whole Foods before lunch, that’s all I did. Oh well… Archivers, I miss you! {::SMILES}.
Here’s my card that’s published in Bella Scraps Magazine. My friend, Lydia, made the kit: Symphony of Spring. Check out the mag. It’s $4.95 and you get all sorts of tips and also free downloads (part of your magazine purchase). I love the kit. It’s great for digital pages but it’s so so cute for hybrid projects too. It’s vintagy! Everything above is from the kit except for the ribbon and the card stock.
Hope you have a nice one. I’ll post again later with a Kristina color challenge card. The colors look awesome… I just need to find the time since the in-laws are here and staying in the guest room. Laters!
It’s Friday!!!!

Today is my last day at work. Yeah! I am really looking forward to staying home for two weeks. The perk of working in education. Although I enjoy all my breaks and so look forward to them, I cannot imagine life without having a career. I think I am more productive when I have a job. I am a lazy ass when I am not on a schedule or with a deadline.
Last night M did her program oh so perfectly. Not only did she memorized her parts she also got extra parts because a few kids were sick or did not want to participate. I guess the teachers found out that M knew everybody’s parts and when asked if she’d like to do this and this and that she said ok. Early in the a.m. she was nervous but by noon she said she was ready for it. We were oh so proud of her {::SMILES}. If it only had her I’d share the video with you all but since others kids are in the video, I rather not.
After the program we stopped at the store and picked up a few things for her party today. For M I also picked up a couple work books. One was a 5-6 yr-old Kindergarten basic and the other one was an accelerated one with extra activities. Well, in less than an hour she went through 27 pages of exercises in the first book. I was ready to be done by page five but she wanted to keep going. We’d do a couple examples together and after that she’d pull the book closer and said, “I got it, I can do it myself now.” It was so cute. She wrote the letters, numbers, read letters and numbers and found missing pieces and did mazes. We did a few of the accelerated one too but we didn’t have crayons handy (I was too lazy to get up) so that’s tonight’s activity. The only thing I need to figure out is how to teach her to read. Right now she can only tell me what the first letter of a word starts with or the sounds of different letters but no reading. She did figure out how to spell dog and cat though but can’t read them. Weird. She already knows how to do basic addition and subtraction.
Have a great weekend and I’ll post more when I get a chance!!! Tomorrow, we’ll be out and about in the city. IF the weather is driveable.
Fall is in the Air

I used a collab kit from Shabby Pickles: Shades of Autumn. I love this store. SOOO many awesome designers!! You should check them out!! After doing more digi work and buying other people’s stuff (before this year I just make my own stuff) I am starting to know who is who and just sticking to those ones I love. The real and cutesy stuff is what I like now… oh and bright colors!!
Those in the U.S., is the economy depressing you? It depresses me. We both have great jobs but it’s still so scary and also so sad for those who are struggling right now. If you’re one of them, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Hopefully it’ll be better soon. I haven’t read on what happened to the bailout deal which I think is suppose to be voted on today. Hopefully it’s decent.
Are you into the coming election? I hope so! If you haven’t registered to vote, go do it. You still have time! I am looking forward to the debate tomorrow (watching it online). Last week’s was a bit dull and I think both were even. I think I’ve made up my mind but we’ll see after tomorrow.
I am making a card tonight. I think I feel some mojo coming {::SMILES}.
I Am Naked

Which kid doesn’t love bath time? Mine LOVES it. She’d be playing for a good 15 minutes, until her little fingers and toes look like raisins.
For this layout I used Silversword71′s kit for the most part which you can find at Shabby Pickle the other items I used are:
Background pattern paper from Edeline Walk Through the Meadow Collab kit that you can find at the DigiChick, flower, ribbon with pin and the green ribbon under it by Jofia also at Shabby Pickle, and title font and tag on the bottom right by Tara Sroka. I had a fun time with this layout and I used a few of the tricks that I’ve shown you in my video tuts… the inked edges which I saved as an action and editing my oh so horrible pictures since I took them in RAW format so that they’ll look like what you see now. My only mistake.. I forgot to save the settings from the first picture and I was too lazy to redo it and so the two pictures are a bit off… the back picture is warmer than the front.
It’s so interesting this picture. When M was born, she had Chinese eyes (I’m half Chinese) but then a few days later they were almost none existent. Now, they’re just round like what you see there. Oh, she was also born a cone head. NOBODY briefed me on this. I thought there was something wrong with her head… ha!
Why Does the Sun Go Around the Earth?

So I explained that it’s actually the other way around. When we got home, we went on YouTube and checked out some videos. Amazingly enough, my daughter got it. She said that it’s a good thing the earth rotates very slowly, if not, we’d be bumping everything and falling all over the place (she said it in a much adorable way… I’m just a boring writer, ha!). She said she loves science. Wuih, I am soooo glad! I hope we can always make learning fun and I hope she loves sciences for a long, long time!
What are some questions that you’ve gotten from your child(ren), nieces, nephews, or grandchild(ren)? Wanna share?
So, since today’s post is all about M, here’s an Emma page that I want to share. It’s a digital page and I have to admit, I was a bit rusty on my extraction and blending technique but here it is… it’s been a while.
I used Lydia Kurniawati aka Silverswords71 kits at Shabby Pickle Designs for this layout: Mei Lian and Happy to Be ME. I’ve been wanting to scrap this photo but I haven’t found the right elements for it… until now. I like it despite my extraction and blending. One technique that I haven’t shared yet, tutorial wise, which I used in this layout is the gradient tool. I hope to do this tutorial sometimes this week.
Well, I better get some sleep. I am working from home Tuesday and I like to get up at 6 a.m. and start working by 6:15 a.m. It’s almost 2 a.m. now. I better get some shut eyes.
