Sweet M

The other day I told M that hubby and I have a very special present for her 7th birthday. I told her that it’s not something she’s been asking but we think that she deserves it. I told her that there’ll be rules to follow and such but we think she’s ready for this present.
M looked at me and said, “I don’t know mommy. I don’t know if I deserve a special present. I think I’m kind of naughty.” Broke my heart! So I said, “M, you’re not naughty, you’re a very good girl. You do chores, practice guitar, read and does great with maths. But, you space out now and then and not listen or remember what we asked you to do. You’re not naughty, just need to pay better attention.” She sighed and said, “I still think I’m kind of naughty. I hope I deserve it.”
Ahh, she’s still the sweetest!
So I went to a crop on base and I got to scrappin’ with Sasha Holloway. I met her online ages ago and coincidently we’re both, or our husbands are, stationed at the same base. I actually bumped into her at the post office Friday. She didn’t recognize me, it was Jovie she recognized (while Jovie just gave her a dirty look, HA!). It was so nice to meet a fellow scrapbooker. You should check Sasha out, she’s quite the inspiration and have been a design team member for many huge manufacturers, challenges and kit clubs.
I did this page using goodies that I purchased from Sarah Martina. I loved the little package that I got with lots of yummy goodies but I haven’t gotten a chance to do anything with it until last weekend. To tell you the trust since before Christmas I’ve only crafted a handful of times. I’ve been teaching and reading lately… read 9 books (if you have a Goodreads account do add me) since Christmas!
On this page I just did some random layering and used whatever came in the package. I’ve had this image in my head of how I want the layout to feel but it wasn’t until Saturday that I got to lay everything out to see what’d fit with my photos and design idea.
The only thing that didn’t come in the package was this read snowflake. I got the flake from Christy, the owner of Scarlet Lime.
These little part was the last thing I did. I wanted snowflakes but nobody at the crop had a snowflake punch. Then I noticed the pom-poms and my ornament title and this corner came about, two little hanging pom-pom ornaments. The ink splatters, they were glimmer mists. I did this outside… was rainy and windy that day.
The candy cane with bells was another little extra last minute thing. It looked bare on that area and adding this part, I think at least, made the layout more balanced.
That’s it! I wanted to post earlier but I had to finish my book that I started yesterday… Laters!
The Tooth Fairy Sucks

Emma has to bring in a jar, a decorated jar, Monday filled with something under £1 for the Christmas Bazaar. Luckily I have this empty coffee jar and some leftover Halloween candies (Kisses and Reeses Peanuts) so I didn’t have to run around looking/buying. Now, I’m not quite sure what their definition of decorated is but since I’m a paper crafter this is what she’ll bring. I used WPlus9′s new stamps: From the Kitchen Of and All Occasion Tags also called the Homemade Holiday Bundle for this project. I don’t decorate a lot of gifties like this and it was kind of fun. I think this year I’m going to do jarred hot cocoa presents, decorated, for the neighbors. I hope they like hot cocoa!
Then the tooth fairy…
M lost another tooth two days ago. It was so dangly that hubby just pulled it out. There was no pain which surprised Miss M. Anyhow, this happened a few minutes before we left for school and she ran upstairs to put the tooth away. Then that night the tooth fairy came. The next morning I asked M if the tooth fairy visited and she said: “Oh, I forgot to put the tooth under my pillow.” This was also before we walked out the door for school and so she didn’t check. After walking her to school the tooth fairy was informed that there was no tooth under the pillow and she came back and took the £2 under the pillow away. Then last night M put her tooth under her pillow and this morning when she woke up she came to our room looking pathetic and said: “The tooth fairy didn’t come, mommy.” Maaan, stupid tooth fairy!!! So I said, “Well, the tooth fairy didn’t know that you put the tooth under your pillow. She’ll probably know today though and will make another round.” She was ok with it (thank goodness I have an accepting child) and got ready for school. So tooth fairy, you better remember to stop by tonight!!!
Alrighty, I’ll post more tomorrow. It’s Saturday so there’ll be for sure a Waltzingmouse Sketch post but there will also be another special one! Until then!!

If Looks Could Kill

It’s color cue time again with WPlus9 and this month us designers get to pick our own colors everyone to play with. Mine’s pretty easy: Red, black/gray, kraft with white as an option. A friend of mine asked me if I can make her ten cards for Christmas and so I’ve trying to come up with one layer designs. This was one of them and I think it’s a keeper. The stamps I used are WPlus9′s latest set: Classic Christmas. I love the ornaments and the fonts for the sentiment!!
So… we went to IKEA and the night before we went I signed up for an IKEA family membership because a few of the things I wanted were on sale if you’re a member. Then while browsing around to see what items have reduce pricing I decided to check the other store (there are a few in London and two are up north, 20min from one another) and oh my, another piece I need is on sale there for members! Hubby was out at his friend’s when I did all that discovery and when he came home I rushed to greet him and said: “I have a fantastic idea!!” He looked at me, paused, and turned right back around. I ran to him and asked where he was going again and he said: “Nope, nope, I don’t want to hear it. I don’t want to know what your great idea is. You have that look on your face (my high school friends used to tell me my eyes would twinkle in an evil way when I had some crazy bright ideas). I’m going back to Pete’s.” I started laughing and told him to get comfy on his chair. After he was nice and toasty I told him that instead of one IKEA we’re going to go to two IKEAs because there are items at each store that are on sale.
It’s really hard for me to tell you how he felt or looked but I caught it on camera:
If looks could kill I wouldn’t be blogging right now {::SMILES}. He didn’t get over it the next day. Oh he took me to IKEA and he was talkative and all that but when I tried to dance to a song with him in the car he’d say: “Don’t try to be fun with me, it’s not going to work (he somehow knew I was kissing up), it doesn’t make the drive any more fun.” I had a great time laughing. I love it when he’s miserable that way ha ha ha…
Amazingly enough he was very patient with my IKEA shopping. I had a list but it wasn’t a for sure list so I still had to touch and ponder. It was great that he was there though because he told me what can and can’t work (we have REALLY hard walls, not sure what but you need a drill to hang anything up!). It was great that he came too because we got these boxes in our Honda Civic Estate (a wagon basically):
It was a good thing M didn’t go. We have a roof rack but it rained. The main boxes in the photos are three Alex and one 5×5 Expedit. If the weather was good we’d have brought back a blue Hemnes too. Hubby’s idea. He said it’d look good and I can put my kits in there better than the other piece I was looking at. I did look at the Hemnes but thought it was a bit too much but hey, if the hubby said so I’m not going to say no {::SMILES}.
Did we go to both? No. It was raining. Plus the Alex were on sale and it wasn’t mentioned on the site. So we still saved money. Is hubby happy now? Oh no!!! He still has to put the Expedit together he he he… I’ll probably be on hot cocoa duty all this week!!!
Something Merry

Did you have a nice weekend? After yesterday’s fun day at the market we continued on today with me sleeping in, hubby and Jovie napping together while I cleaned, and M playing with her friends. Then we ended the day with live music at the pub: A bit of Rolling Stones, Beatles, Scorpion, etc. and then sushi rolls (salmon, cucumber, crab, cream cheese, and green onions) at home with the windows open so that we could still listen to music from the pub. I think this was one of my best tasting sushi ever!! Weekend score: 10/10!
Here’s a little tag, a Christmas tag. The Shabby Tea Room has a Christmas in July challenge. I LOVE Christmas projects! It’s my favorite holiday and not just for the presents! I usually start on my cards around this time too but this year we’re doing photo cards. I figured since we’re far away our families and friends would enjoy our mug shots more than just a card. Also I can whip 100 cards out in like 15 minutes and sent it off to WHCC for printing (this is where I print my digital scrapbook pages and professional quality photos).
The tag’s pretty simple. Everything is just a part of My Mind’s Eyes Christmas embellishments cut-out. Then I added some ribbons and buttons to make it more interesting and festive. I didn’t go with the traditional Christmas colors. It’s just me… I’m not traditional {::SMILE}. Oh, do you see the stamping that I did? I used Mehndi Medallion again from WPlu9. I think it’s one of my new favorites!!!
I hope you all have a great one!!

Jovia’s First Christmas
Posted on | December 29, 2009 | 9 Comments
I just want to share a little page of our little angel on Christmas day. Santa’s hat and Christmas jammies. I used more stuff from the ’08 Scarlet Lime kit, Prima paper from Studio Calico (’08 kit) and my stash of AC alphas. I have a goal of using my ’08 stuff before digging into more of the ’09 kits. I’m telling you, I’ve got enough scrapbook schtuff to last me for years but I keep buying. Terrible habit!!! Very against green living and tight-wadness. But I guess everybody’s got an Achilles heel.
We’re spending time with my in-laws now. We haven’t seen hubby’s sister in years and so it’s nice to visit before our move across the big pond. Laters folks! Jovie’s trying to take over my keyboard. She LOVES sitting here with me while I type. Have a great Tuesday!
