She Needs It

Hugs and Kisses

A haircut that is. It’s about time, don’t you think?

Jovia

The problem is though, Jovie does not like scissors, or strangers. Getting Jovie to stay still while being trimmed is like trying to yank a lollipop out of her little hand – this girl LOVES her lollies!! It’s not too bad looking I suppose but I think sometimes before she starts pre-school this girl will need to learn how to stay calm during a trim.

I have tried a few times to get some scissors near her but each time she always freaked out. A hairdresser told me to do it while she’s sleeping but while it sounded great, wouldn’t the sleeping haircut method defeat the purpose of the haircut – to tidy her up a bit. I just can’t see how tidy one’s head can get via a sleeping haircut.

It’s so interesting how to children from the same parents can be so different. Emma had loads of hair by Jovie’s age. I think by this age M has had three haircuts. Two on purpose and one on her own. I still remember the whole incident too… We were scrapbooking and I went in to the kitchen to grab something to drink. Before I did anything I remember turning around to see what M was doing and it was at that instant that I saw her grab my scissors and within seconds chopped the left side of her hair off. Guess who wasn’t very happy?

A few phone calls later and a trim M looked presentable. The hair dresser was awesome. She made it look like the left side of Emma’s hair was tucked behind her left ear.

Today I have a little card that I created based on a Waltzingmouse sketch. I LOVE this sketch because it’s so versatile. Are you looking for a challenge this week? Do join us at Waltzingmouse and I can’t wait to see what you create!!

I’ll post more later and oh, before I go, I want to share this picture of Emma. It was World Book Day last week and M dressed up an (an adorable) Captain Hook. My mom made the outfit and I made the hook.

Celebrating the Little Things

Hugs

Sometimes, when nothing exciting seems to happen in our lives, we tend to forget that there is always something to be thankful about and to celebrate even (a few high fives here and there). The last week or two have been like that here. But, I want to remind myself of what we have and what each of us have accomplished the last few weeks.

  • Jovie is better at potty training
  • Jovie is extremely polite
  • M is in the next stage of swimming lessons
  • We’re so glad M changed gymnastics club
  • Hubby got a new position
  • I got to dress up and go on a date with the hubs
  • We hung out in Norwich

Nothing major, but still, things I want to remember and be thankful for.

Valentine

I have here a little card using Waltzingmouse’s sketch for this week. I went CAS and Valentine-ish. I know that the exact day to celebrate this has passed but, since we don’t celebrate it, Valentine to us is any day of the year. I did a little stamping, trimming, embossing and ink blotching. I really like how it turned out. I thought it’d be plain at first but the ink made this card fun.

I hope you’re enjoying a fabulous weekend and until next time!

The Waiting Game

LOVE

Pregnancy, I swear, is as long as it is so that us women (and men to some point) can learn a little more about patience. I remember before I had Emma, or even after, how I’d get impatient waiting for my turn to see the doctor. I thought it was horrible to have to wait 30 minutes sans Internet, smart phones, text messaging system, etc. Doctor’s offices’ magazines can only go so far – at least for me.

Then Emma came along and not only did I have to wait for my own appointments I had to wait for Emma’s too. But as we all know, it’s not just appointments that we parents have to wait for. I had to wait for M to finish playing in the tub, I had to wait for her while she did her potty duty, I had to wait for her to swallow that last piece of french fries while I kept looking at my watch (my lunch hour was over 15 minutes ago), I had to wait for her pizza to cook, and the list goes on.

Two years and some months ago Jovie came along and now I have double the dosage. Two hours of waiting for Jovie to use the potty, 30 minutes to wait for her to go to sleep, 10 minutes to persuade her to wear her shoes (we’d be on the tabloid daily if I were famous – the bad mom section), and a good 30 minutes to wait for her to eat. I’m sure the French mom would just shake their heads watching me but the I-love-my-kid-too-much and tiger mom in me thinks it’s just fine to be persistent. I do though think I need to add a bit of French-ness to Jovie. Sitting down on the hard floor while holding Jovie’s hand until she falls asleep is not good for my ass!!

Last week, maybe two, I told you that M moved to a different gymnastics club. We moved because she now wants to be a high level gymnast. So I researched, talked to her old gym, and tried out a few gyms (we’re lucky to live within and hour of three Olympic quality gymnastics clubs) and after some talks we opted for the gym that’s the furthest one away, 45 minutes on a good day. That gym has a wonderful program and the coaches are awesome and we just couldn’t say no.

So, after two pregnancy, I feel like I have become a fifth of Mother Teresa. Not only do I have the stamina to drive two little girls around (Jovie’s gym is 38 minutes away) but I also have the will power to wait for one little girls to finish with 45 minutes of ballet, 30 minutes of swimming, 30 minutes of piano, and 6 hours of gymnastics. Did I mention that this is just for ONE little girl?

Motherhood has taught me a lot and one big lesson for me is this thing called patience. I do though have my moments but unlike a few years ago, I can now be somewhat gracefully impatient.

Hope you like the card too. It was created based on a sketch by Waltzingmouse. Happy Valentine’s day, everyone!!

Sunday Lunch

Celebrate

Two Sundays ago we were invited to have lunch at our friends’ home. Two o’clock in the afternoon she said and I said great. Sunday came along, 11 a.m., and hubby said, “Shouldn’t we be getting ready to leave for lunch?” I said, “No, we don’t need to be there until 2 p.m. Why don’t you have lunch?” Hubby looked at me, confused, and said, “I thought we’re going there for lunch?” I replied, “Yes, Sunday lunch or roast. It’s later. We’ll probably eat at 4.” More confused, hubby said, “But that’s like dinner.” I told him that we’ll just have our friend explain and told him to go eat something.

The other day I talked about ‘tea’, lunch, supper, and dinner. Well for Sunday, Sunday lunch/roast that is, the common time for this is between early afternoon to early evening. Think of Sunday lunch as a light version of Thanksgiving. People would put a chicken, or pork, or beef in the oven for a few hours during the day and then cook the sides closer to when the roast will be served. While I love everything at a Sunday roast, my favourite food is the Yorkshire pudding. Yummmm!!!!

Of course, after a good meal, a fabulous dessert, or pudding as many people here say, would be served.

Hope you have a great one! Like the card? Created it using Waltzingmouse’s sketch for this week. You still have time to participate!!!

Almost 8

My beautiful girl

Time sure flies! Somebody we all know is almost eight! Remember her when she was three? Or her fourth birthday? Ahhh… my baby’s growing up!

Emma plans on having a shopping party. It’s not just any shopping party but a stationary shopping party. Yes, that girl, like her mama, LOVES pretty office supplies. So her, and two of her besties, are going to Paperchase, lunch and who knows what else. We’ll make it a great day out and then later dinner with the family. I love this kind of parties… Simple!!!

Today I want to remind you about the Waltzingmouse sketch challenge. If you are feeling uninspired, please hop on by and create something with their fun and simple sketch. I told you I love simple sketches. Makes creating easier, more versatile! Deadline: Friday, so come on!!!

I’ll catch you all later. Bye!
