Happy Birthday

Hiya! Today’s Friday, YEAH!!! This week’s been a pretty good week. M got chosen to be the Cougar (her school’s mascot) of the week in her class. She’s been getting a smiley face everyday for listening, doing her work, participation, and for being kind to others. It’s a new thing and she’s the first to get it. YEAH, M!!!!

Me… this week I got an email from Robin and she invited me to be on of her hybrid CT at Sweet Shoppe Design. After seeing what her store has and the gals I’ll be working with, I couldn’t say no. I’ll be there with Anthonette, Sankari, Jen Tapler, and Heather Nichols – you all know who they are, right? They’re FAAAAMOUUUS in the blog-o, card, stamping world of ours!! There are tons of other talented gals there too which I hope to get to know better the next few months. If you haven’t been to SSD, go check it out, there’s an awesome sale there too right now and a lot, if not all, of their digital stuff are so very hybrid friendly. The awesome part about the designers there is that many of them are designers for paper companies too, like My Mind’s Eyes, Pink Paislee, and more. So they’re use to designing for paper folks. I LOVE hybrid and if you haven’t tried it out, you should. It’s super easy and you can use something like Word to get started + the digital elements and paper of course {::SMILES}. I do have a Word tutorial on how to get started on hybrid. Check it out. You’ll love it!!! I’ve never been big on making stuff for Halloween but Heather Nichol’s hybrid project is making me want to do something fancy for M’s candies. Her project looks sooooooo easy!!!! She used Photoshop Elements but you can use Word to do this too!

So my card… I used Kazan’s sketch from 2Sketches4You (check out their World Card Making Day blog hop too!!) and digital stuff from Zoe Pearns (she’s a designer for My Mind’s Eyes), C’est La Vie, and a collab kit by MandaBean and Lauren Grier, Bumble Bee Mine. My friend’s bday was yesterday and thought something fun for her would be appropriate. I gave her the card already and she loved it {::SMILES}.

Okie doke, it’ll be a nice weekend I think for us. I’ll be grinding up some brown rice later tonight for Jovie’s first real food! Yes, momma Savitri likes to make her own baby food. We only bought M factory made food when we traveled. I just think it’s healthier and I know for sure what’s in my baby’s food. Have a great one and more later!!!!

Counting Down to Five

Birthday CelebrationMy baby’s growing up!!! She’s going to be five next month and this is her party invitation (most parents plans for months… I just got to it… bad mama). These are the colors she chose (I added the craft) and she wanted the butterflies. She loves the Martha punch as much as I do. I promise after this I will use this punch sparingly {::SMILES}.

Too serious of a card for a 5-year-old? She actually hasn’t seen the card. I couldn’t think of anything else to make. Her party actually has a Chinese theme to it (January 29th is Chinese New Year) but I have nothing Chinese and I didn’t feel like doing a digi card. There are flowers and butterflies in China too — trying to justify my creation here — back me up ppl {::SMEARK}! I think the butterflies will make it somewhat fun for the kids. It didn’t take long, just a bunch of papers stacked on top of each other. I think it took me 10 minutes to make this card.

Well, today was my first day at work. After sleeping in all through my break I had a really hard time staying awake after 2 p.m. I did find something interesting to do though and by the time I looked up it was 4:30 p.m. Wuih!!! I got a bit of coffee too and I think that helped. The babe was kicking around a bit after – caffeine high, ha! Speaking of, I’ve been feeling this little person since I was 14-weeks. I read that you feel it sooner after your first time. It was weird but nice at the same time. I’ll be 20-weeks next week!!! Wow, time flies! But I still have little to show. My co-workers were a bit surprised. I am too actually. Hope the kid’s normal!!! My measurements were fine though. I think I didn’t blow up until 19/20 weeks too with M. I remember us being surprised. We woke up one day and voila… hello belly!!! I really can’t remember though and I didn’t keep track (I was and am bad at the belly shot thing).

Okie dokie… time to get some sleepy eyes. I am sleeping with M tonight. Hubby’s got strep throat. Been sleeping with M since Sat. night and will continue ’til the end of the week. Just in case.

Celebrate 35

Celebrate 35 Not my 35th, a friend’s {::SMILES}. I used Kristina’s colors for this week: chocolate chip, pumpkin pie, taken with teal, certainly celery, and white. The card is for a guy and I thought the colors are appropriate. I added the ribbon because I love it and also because I know he wouldn’t mind it either. He’s a very sentimental kind of guy; he even went to a crop with me once. No, he’s not gay, he he…

For the shape behind the number and the numbers themselves, I used my Klic-n-Kut. I finally dug it out again after putting it away so that my parents could have a bed (that’s where my Knk and laptop lays). I used my SU polka dots stamps for the background and clear embossing powder and for the sentiment, I used an itty bitty PaperTrey stamp.

It’s a simple card and very dimensional. There no glue on this card, just dimensionals. Oh, not sure if you can see it but the 35 is glittery. I used my SU glitters and adhere the glitter using the heat and stick powder. The step was more less: versamark, heat and stick, heat gun, glitters, heat gun. IF for some reason you don’t get enough glitters on, do the steps again. I don’t like getting glitters on my actual versamark and so for the second step, if needed, I use an old embossing pad. It works well.

Ok, that’s it. Have a great one and more later!

Quickie Card

Posted on | December 1, 2008 | 5 Comments

Birthday Wishes Just something quick that I did before tucking M in. We had a little scrappy time and maybe, just maybe, my creative juices are coming back. I hope!!

This didn’t take long at all and I kind of like it. I used my huge Baroque stamp, did some embossing with red, the butterfly is from Kind Thoughts and there is actually the solid flower from that set under that butterfly too. I added a button between the flower and butterfly just for dimension… you can’t really see it. The sentiment is from PaperTrey. I need more of that vanilla ribbon. It’s from Michael’s I think. Really soft!

Alright, going to bed. I couldn’t sleep that well last night. Just kept waking up. Hopefully tonight will be better!!

Have a great one!

Kristina’s Color Challenge

Posted on | November 26, 2008 | 22 Comments

Cherish Here’s mine for this challenge. Love the colors! It’s Riding Hood Red, Sahara Sand/Metallic (I chose the sparkly silver SU embossing powder), Very Vanilla, and Whisper White.

I did think of doing a Christmas card but instead I got this. The berries I cut out from a Making Memories paper and the button is from Rhonna Farrer’s Christmas pack. The ribbon was from one of the big craft stores and I did some paper piercing beside the embossing.

Today I got my turkey brined. I need to turn it over in the morning and then we’ll be cooking. It’s just the three, or four, of us. Our first Thanksgiving without company. I thought this would be our second but hubby reminded me that other one was Christmas.

Hope your Thanksgiving will be a great one. I think I will be out Friday. I’m not sure why since the stores I’m going for has no early bird sale; I think I’m just itching to shop and feel the festivities. M’s staying home with dad, whoopie! She loves to shop with me but she does get a bit impatient when she already have all her stuff purchased. It’ll be nice to just shop alone.

Alright, have a GREAT Thanksgiving!! I have a few awards I want to pass on and some random facts about me tag but I’ll post those next time.
