We’re Having a Baby…

Caffeine card first… this is up at Use Your Type. It’s this next two week’s challenge and the theme is: Resolution with focus on type. Since I had, and still have, none this was what I came up with. Compare to the rest of the team, mine is LAME!! I am relying on coffee for 2009!!!! Oh well… to the news… the stamp is A*Muse and colored with Copic markers.

Ok.. first the story… and if you haven’t seen the card for THE occasion and a bit of a background, it’s here and oh, don’t forget to peak in the inside.

The appointment was at 1:30 p.m. Saturday and everything went smoothly. We have a DVD of the whole thing but I won’t post that. Later I’ll do a scrapbook page and I’ll share that instead. After the appointment we went to Bo Ling’s for some Dim Sum. I chose Bo Ling’s because we haven’t gone in a loooong time and it’s everybody’s favorite. If it was our first child we’d probably go for the Skies Restaurant or this place I’ve been wanting to go: Blue Bird Bistro (although Le Fou Frog is another yummy option. Hmm, if it was our first kid we’re probably restaurant hop before opening the card, ha!!!) but Bo Ling’s it was. After everything, but our tea, was cleared we did the following:

Me: (Looking at Drew) We’re going to have M open the card
Drew: Ok, that’s fine
M: Give me the card, daddy
Me: Are your hands clean? Let me see them?

M showing us her hands, front and back
Drew dipped a napkin in one of the drinking cups and wiped.
Drew then opened the card, took the ultrasound picture out, placed it upside down, and stuck the card back in the envelope.

Drew: Here’s the card

Drumrolls…. M, slowly (to us at least) opening.

M: I know what it is… (sing songy – ala M)
Me: Ok, read it
M: It’s a boy

Drew and Me: What, really?

Both of us slapped (literally) the card down on the table.

Checked: NOT a boy.

Drew grabbed the ultrasound picture and sure enough, on it: LABIA and the picture (the kid wasn’t shy).

So for five seconds (maybe less) the child was a boy. But in reality, and the picture clearly told us too, that it’s a girl. Drew was disappointed (for a good minute or two). He got his hopes up the first few seconds. He’s fine either way but the few seconds of boy news made his stomach turn when he read that it’s a girl. I think my disappointment would last longer if she’s a he, oh, a good five minutes longer {::SMILES}.

Due date: still somewhere around June 3rd.

Lesson learned: When working with a child who cannot read make sure you get into all the details such as “the checked word IS the one.”

Conclusion: We’re all happy. M can’t wait to see her. She really thought that we were going to “see” the baby Saturday. The idea of an ultrasound just went over her head. I could have had another order of siu mai. I am going to buy me some girlie looking gDiaper covers, ha!

Everything that this palm and face reader friend said of me have came true (some quite accurate). The last prediction I’ll have to wait until I’m old. She said I’ll live a long and comfortable life and on my last day I’ll have my family around me. Man, I wish I remember her name… she was my college friend.

My psychic mom… for once she’s wrong {::SMILES}.

Today, I don’t show much still. Yesterday I had five bowls of soup and two sandwiches and I looked pregnant but today, they’ve all digested (I think I pee’d most of it out) and so I’m back to looking like I had a bit too much at the buffet. Maybe tomorrow? Hoping {::SMILES}.

It’s a Baby…

It's a Baby Card {::SMILES}. We haven’t gone yet to our ultrasound appointment. In a little bit. But this is the card that the ultrasound tech will check, boy or girl, and over a yummy dinner we will find out what we’ll have for our #2. We want to make the event more personal and so we decided on this route instead of the tech telling us right there and then.

I used some Hero Arts stamps and the “baby” is Heidi Swapp. The alpha is Making Memories and the paper, scallop punch, and ink pad is Stampin’ Up. I used Copic markers to color the owls. The colors, I used Kristina’s color challenge for this week: chocolate chip, baja breeze, pumpkin pie, whisper white, and old olive. Oh, there are sparkles on the “baby” too. I used an American Craft glitter pen. The best $1.99 spent lately, ha! There’s a ribbon that I sewed on too.

I was going for fun and cute without going all the way baby looking. What do you think?

We’re going to have breakfast and get ready to go. I’ll share the news after we tell our families!

Singapore

Singapore One of our Singapore trip photo that I put scrapped. This was M’s first time playing with sea water. She went to the beach the first time at 3-months but she can’t remember so to her this was the first time.

I used some more of my Scarlet Lime stash (Making Memories Passport series mostly with Thickers and Damask). I should be getting the January kit soon, I can’t wait. It looks awesome!

I was going to work on a Kristina color challenge but got distracted. Hopefully Friday evening. The colors look great though!!! Too sleepy right now.

It’s pass midnight, Friday, yeah! I can’t wait until Saturday. We have our gender ultrasound appointment. I’ll share the new after we personally tell our direct family members. Our parents would freak out if I tell you all first {::SMILES}. I’ve been posting a couple things in my baby blog. If you’re interested, you can swing by there. Mostly though I’ve been writing about products I’m (hubby doesn’t care less as long as they work) interested in getting.

Sweet Baby Girl

Celebrate Baby This time it’s not my baby girl. My best friend from college (wow, a long time ago!!!) just had a baby. She lives in Houston and delivered after the hurricane passed. The poor girl wasn’t able to sleep for three days!! Between the storm and having contractions for two or three days (can’t remember now) she said she only got 15 minutes in.

So here’s my card and today I am going to pick up a pair of Robeez before going to soccer today and in a few months send her a signing video. My standard for out of town baby gifts {::SMILES}. When M was a baby I went a bit buck wild on the shoes. Back then there was no local store selling Robeez so it’s either online or Nordstroms but now our local store carries it. Or, I’ll buy some Bobux and also ShooShoos (always good end of season sale, $8-$11!). There’s another brand after she started walking but I can’t remember. Then we got to other brands after soft shoes but man, LOVE those little shoes!!!

I am home right now. Taking a personal day and just completed part one of my real estate continuing ed course. Just need to take the exam. Three more to go. Urgh! I think this is my last time. I don’t think I’ll renew after this. Besides buying and selling our other home and buying the land for this one I have not done any other real estate since 2003!
