Here Comes the Bride

And groom {::SMILES}. But not my hubby and I.
So it was quite interesting when Clear and Simple Stamps sent me this set for my first projects (coming in July!). Even though we’re not going to have a big hoopla, my sister is and so I created this as a sample for my sister who’s for sure getting married in October. They did a civil service last year and will do the service with close families and friends this fall. That’s why my family’s visiting. This is also why we’re in a rush to finish the basement. It’s great motivation though. We need more space and we need to finish anyways. The unfortunate part is cleaning almost 3000 sq.ft. of space. Eek! But we’re guessing that we’d probably be in the basement more so than anywhere else during awake time. I mean my craft room will be down there after all {::SMILES}.
These are super simple and very inexpensive handmade cards to make. Perfect for mass producing. I did have a colored version of the bride and groom but decided that just the stamped image looks a lot better. I printed the program on the computer. I printed a few of them on regular paper, tested the stamp placement and all that too, before I ran it through the white card stock. The inside of the cards and programs are blank which is on purpose since the program and invite will be on printed white card stock which can be easily added on later. The inside of the invites can be quickly glued right before mailing and the programs can be done a few weeks or even the day before in case of last minute changes. Or, start and finish at the time of creation and be done with it. Super flexible.
I really like how they turned out. Not only were they super quick to put together, I think they look quite elegant, and extremely flexible in terms of changes to the main content of each item.
Material:
Amy Butler pattern paper
Stampin’ Up! card stock
Satin ribbon from a craft store
Corner rounder (for the scallops on the pattern paper), scallop circle, and circle punch
Black SU ink
Two sided glue and dimensionals
It use to be honey. It was from my colleagues wedding and I now use it for brads. But, I thought I’d use it for this project and if my sister does like it, we can just recreate this to the size of her jars.
For this project, I just used my ATG glue gun and it stuck well – I just glued the top of the paper to the glass jar. I’m not sure of the red double sided tape will hold better but you can give it a try. I used the ATG when I did the Target mailbox project and the paper and ribbons are still stuck to it. For the top stamp, I stamped the bottom heart image first and then I used a circle punch to cut. Last I did the sentiment stamp and used dimensionals to adhere the sentiment to the scallop paper (used SU’s scallop punch). The jar lid is the type where the sides and the top are seperate. So I just used the circular top as a template for the brown paper and cut. It wasn’t perfect but the sides of the lid covered it up well. You can also add a little thank you tag with names/initials on them and let it hang on the ribbon. Just another idea for this easy project.
If you’re getting married or know of some one, pass this along. I hope it can help somebody out there {::SMILES}.
Hubby Made this Card

Hope every mom had a wonderful mother’s day weekend. I had a great one spent with my family and a few friends.
I didn’t do anything crafty but my hubby did and he did an awesome job too. First though, let me share what M and him did for me (well, mostly hubby did for me).
Sunday morning, hubby made me breakfast – M was suppose to help but M and me ended up playing instead. When breakfast was ready, I had the breakfast in bed option but I opted for the dinner table so that we can all sit down together.
For breakfast, hubby made me eggs, grits (it was still cooking when the photo was taken), turkey sausage and from scratch, he made cinnamon and vanilla waffles. They were yummy and perfect looking! I am so proud of him!!
After breakfast, he offered to clean up and he said that I could scrapbook or whatever if I wanted to. I did go to my craft room but didn’t really do anything too creative.
I finished up the page that I did at the crop and printed out a few things for a few hybrid projects. While I was doing all this, I heard a lot of hammering and drilling from the basement. I thought that hubby got motivated and wanted to do more basement stuff. But no, he made me this card instead.
Isn’t this the nicest looking card? I LOVE it!
Here are the details:
Leftover wood from our construction project, metal from an old beer can, hammered bottle caps for the circles, staples, pastic ties, nails, and cardboard.
This is the best card ever!!! M loves it too and dad said he’ll make a special one for her. She can’t wait!
Mother’s Day Card and Gift

This was what we made at my upline’s workshop last Wednesday. We had so much fun chit chatting, creating, and bringing home fun items.
The first is a bath salt project. Isn’t that the cutest? The stamp set is an old retired SU stamp set, Bubble Queen and the bottle is a cleaned up Starbucks bottle. This was a really easy project to do and it looks so nice. The bottle was full when I came home with it but M used some already {::SMILES}.
To glue the card, we used the red double sided glue. I used my ATG gun to glue between the white and the pink but it wasn’t tough enough. Today, the adhesive is still going strong.
The top of the card, we just covered with card stock. Used a round punch but I think it’ll be cute too if you use pattern paper or use a scallop punch instead of the regular. A lot of possibilities. One of the ladies came up with putting coffee beans, hot cocoa mixes, etc. Get the four bottle Starbucks coffee and decorate the carton. I saw some samples on SplitCoast.
The bath salt was home made and I found a recipe online that is similar to this one. There are many others out there. What my upline did was use a lavendar scent baby oil which you can easily find at WalMart for the essential oil. Smells really good.
The next project is a matching card. This card is a case and that case was a case from Amy Sheffer. I met Amy through H&M stamp even though I’ve been stalking her blog before then. She’s super talented. Love this card. It’s super cute and not hard at all. They’re just paper layered together and the half circles are just half circles. I used my scissors to cut each circly in half.
Last but not least, the card swap. I have one more. The cards are in the mail. Long story. I love them, especially the doggy card. She did that
card using the Cricut machine and then added some dimensions by embossing the brown. It’s nice. M loves the purple bday card and the blue makes a great masculine bday card.
Yes, the theme of the swap was birthdays.
The card that I made for the swap was this in the very bottom. I chose these colors so that it can be for a boy or a girl. I thought that even with the pomegranate color a male recipient would like it. Yes, no?
The set is from the Little Birdie set. One of my favorites can’t you tell? {::SMILES}. I used this week’s SCS color challenge, pomegranate, black, and sky blue. For the scalloped cardstock, I used my corner rounder punch.
I’ll be making a Stampin’ Up! order tonight… hmm… which oh which… hard decisions!
Well, have a great weekend. It’s NATIONAL SCRAPBOOK DAY tomorrow. Not that I’m doing anything scrappy, have a bday to go to {::SMILES}. But, if I get things done this weekend, aka chores, I will try to squeeze in some scrapbook time. Besides, I have some stuff I need to do for The DigiChick.
Altered Me

I never got a chance to photograph the items from the workshop I went to. I got home late last night. After picking M up, I stopped at the consignment store, picked up a few shirts, and on my way to drop the movie at Blockbuster, I saw that my LSS was open. Its first day! So of course I had to stop by and guess who all were there? The peeps I scrapbook with. Ha ha! So I chit chatted a bit, helped a few customers with some questions, and also talked to the owners. I’ll be teaching my own classes starting August but I might do a few that they’ve already scheduled between now and then. We’ll talk more next week. I am so excited! I might also help with their displays. They have a lot of stuff that many newbies don’t know what to do with and being a new store, they have no samples.
That’s it. I’m going to lunch. I’ll post more later.
