You never thought you’d hear, at least not in person…

M: Jovie, don’t put Nemo in your butt!!
M: Mommy, Jovie’s putting Nemo in her butt!
Me: (Wow, did I just hear that one right?) Jovie, please be nice to Nemo and sit back down (in the bath tub)!

If somebody told me 10 years ago that I’d be in England with one child trying to stick a Nemo up her butt I’d laugh and tell that person he/she’s mad {::SMILES}.

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving break! We had a nice time with friends although quite glad that today marks our first non-leftover day. Let’s just say I went a bit carried away with the cooking…

I’ll make this post sweet and short. I have more in the next few days. It’s WPlus9′s sneak peaks and I cannot wait to share what pretties Dawn and the team has in store for you!! As for today’s project, I hope you enjoy this little Christmas place card inspired by Waltzingmouse’s Sketch Challenge. I made it quite simple since I tend to do this at the last minute and you all know what last minute means, very little time! Even though it’s simple, a bit of sparkly embellishment goes a long way! Oh, the floral frog would be used at the dinner table to hold the place setting up. Although I did make it to stand on its own, it’s much nicer on something (floral frog or similar) don’t you think?

Our Simple Menu

Turkey

A £45.04 turkey comes in a nice fancy and sturdy box. I’ve never felt more proud carrying a turkey than this morning. Seriously!!

The turkey is fresh. This is our first fresh turkey. Even the turkey we got from our local farmer in MO was frozen so this is a treat. There’s no smile, no birth certificate or a photograph, but, based on the box the turkey had a good life and will make six adults, one teen and seven children happy tomorrow!!

Turkey

I cook like I craft. Now and then I get a feel for something complicated or just time consuming to prepare but for the most part I am a quick and simple kind of girl. So for this year’s Thanksgiving I will be serving (I linked to the recipes but I usually improvise as I go):

  1. Turkey – of course
  2. Mashed potatoes + gravy (I’d cook it after everything else is done and after turkey comes out I’ll stick this in the oven to heat)
  3. Green bean casserole (prep in the a.m. and then stick in the oven 30 minutes before serving)
  4. Glazed carrots (I make the glaze in the a.m. and then the carrots will take 5 minutes to boil)
  5. Steamed corn on the cob/kernels (depends on what hubby brings back this evening)
  6. Corn bread (maybe using this one but did love this one)
  7. Stuffings, I just follow the recipe on the package and stuff it in my turkey
  8. Gravy
  9. Cranberry sauce (make later tonight)
  10. Pumpkin pies (hubby’s recipe and he’ll make this from scratch tonight)

I don’t have a plan of attack but everything, I think, has been graphed in my head. We’ll see how it goes!

Have a great holiday!!!

Crazy Hair Day

Open grocery stores on Thanksgiving day!

As I am finalising our Thanksgiving menu, putting together a grocery list for the hubby (for the base) and writing down all the rest that I need to get at the local farm shops/grocery store I am thankful that Thanksgiving is a US holiday. It’s not that I am selfish about turkey day but it’s been quite nice you see to be able to send the hubby off to the grocery store two hours before dinner without wondering if it’s opened/closed. Also, it’s awesome that we don’t have to fight a crowd to get that 1lb of sugar for the cranberries.

It’s the little thing sometimes, right?

Here’s a little page using November’s Scarlet Lime kit. A simple little page which I really like. The photo’s old. It’s even somewhat scratched up but I love it! Emma was 2-ish and unlike Jovie she had a lot of hair, quite a little lady for her age and very articulate. Jovie… we still haven’t gotten her first hair cut, still baby-ish (super cute though), and if there’s an app to help us translate her speech we’d get it (she still signs but she doesn’t know enough signs to say all she wants to say). It’s so odd how two kids, from the same parents, can be so different!

Adieu for now! I might come back but if not, happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends! I will be busy prepping a dinner for 14. It’s not to bad really, 6.5 adults (one is almost a teenager thus the half) and the rest are kids aged 1, 2, 4, 4, 7, 8 and 8, but I want it to be nice still so wish me luck {::SMILES}.

Favorite Fall Colors

Deck

These colors has been my favorite colors the last few months. I’ve been loving it so much that the clothes I purchased recently have all been a combo of these colors. They’re just so fall don’t you think?

Just a little post from me. I wanted to share this yesterday but my Internet was down. The card’s inprised by Waltzingmouse’s sketch challenge for this week. It’s a layered card challenge and here are my layers.

Have a great one all and until next time!

A Soupy Kind of Day

Deck the Hall

What’s the weather like in your part of the world? It’s been gloomy and wet here and today was no exception.

After gymnastics we went to the market in Bury St. Edmunds and had lunch at Zen Noodles. It was our first time and while our dishes were good, they weren’t fabulous. I do like the ambience. It felt light and modern with decent wait staff. Will we go again? I’m not sure. If friends want to go there then yes but on our own, maybe not. While I’m not a fan of the restaurant, not great ambiance, mediocre sushi and a service that always gave me heartburns, soups at Teri Aki in Cambridge is much better… or even Wagamama. Better yet, a clear soup at Thai Street Cafe in Newmarket for less than £6 for lunch. Oh, the fried rice was delicious. I’d go again for that at only £2.85!!

I think I am going to start making more soup dinners. Soup’s so comforting don’t you think?

Today I have a little Christmas card using a sketch by Waltzingmouse. LOVE this simple sketch and the big ornament. I used Stampin’ Up! in colors for the color theme. Do you see the texture too? A bit of PTI embossing template went through the paper. Subtle but I think the right touch.

I hope you had a wonderful Saturday! Until next time!!
