I LOVE my England Postal Code!
Posted on | October 21, 2010 | 10 Comments
And the word “dudettes” although I’ve changed it up a bit to “dudelettes” — the kidlet version of a female dude. That’s what I’ve been calling the girls.
The last few days I’ve been researching places to visit for our trip next week and I just LOVE how the postal code/zip code works in England. The US have a 9-digit zip but it doesn’t work quite like how it is here. So here’s an example… Go to Google Maps and past this postal code: CB8 0EB. Google will take you straight to a college instead of a city. The first part is always two letters and a number or two and then a space and the second part would be a number or two and two letters. The first part corresponds to the post town and the second the street. If there are 10 houses on that street then all ten homes will have the CB8 0EB postal code (if you’re really interested in this you can read more on Wikipedia).
Isn’t that nice? When I buy something online the system will ask me for my postal code and after I plop it in it’ll give me house number options and after I select my house number everything, the address part, will automatically be fill-out for me. When I opened a bank account the manager just asked me for my postal code and house number and he got all my address info into the system. It’s sweet! When we go places all I have to write down is the postal code and my GPS/SatNav/Daniel will have a postal code option and I can just plop that in and it’ll take me right to the street. I’ll have the house number handy in my little brain (if it’s a store I don’t even bother with the house number) and voila, Daniel would take me there.
In relationship to my sight-seeing, it’s been great to just jot down the postal codes for the places we intend on visiting. It’s way quicker than typing in the city and then the street number, name, etc. Love it!!

What was your most memorable day? I have a few with these as the most: our engagement (it was a hoopla I tell ya), and the birth of our two girls. I always thought that I knew what happiness was but it wasn’t until I gave birth and met these two for the first time did I really know what true and pure happiness was all about.
These pictures were taken at the hospital a few hours after Jovie was born. M couldn’t get enough of her and just wanted to hold her little sister. M still can’t get enough of Jovie now but Jovie sometimes just has enough of M he he…
For this layout I used Pebbles new line called New Arrival. For a complete list of all the materials that I used, do check out their blog — plus there are other projects created by the other DTs that you should check out!! The only three things not Pebbles are the mini sticker Alpha (Cosmo Cricket), the American Craft Thickers, and the doily.
I do want to show you this little envelope. See it? Just perfect for little notes… little reminder of that day. Something that Jovie might want to open up and read one day…
Have a great one everybody and more later!!
All Eyes On…

Me! Yes, all eyes on me.
Once you have enough of me you all can move on…
Ha! That was tacky, huh? Well, I thought I’d give it a go and I promise, will NEVER do this again {::SMILES}.
Actually this is what I want to highlight… my favorite (as of today) WPlus9′s stamp set. I LOVE this fall set, Season of Thanks, because not only are the images great, the size are just perfect! Plus, I have a thing for fall so earthy tones are totally my thing (and boots!). Dawn, at WPlus9, always have a thing on the 20th of the month called All Eyes On and this month the focus is on our favorite stamps. Do check out her blog and see what the other DTs did for this monthly post!
I have been very into clean cards the last few. I think it’s because I’ve really been into white cardstock. After that one on Saturday, white has been challenging me. Since then I’ve made three and so far I haven’t made any inking mishaps in the process. Plus, I found these really thick cardstock, 290gsm which basically is a tad bit thicker than the PapertreyInk ones, and they are so so nice as a base. Just make the card feel richer.
Anyhow, I’ll make this quick because I am actually posting live! Yes, it’s past 5 a.m. here in the UK! I’m blaming all this on Jovie. That kid finally went to bed at 3 a.m.!! URGH! We all went to bed at 7:30 p.m. but she just kept waking up every 15-30mins. I need to get a few things done tonight, which I did, and was not looking forward to being up this late. Oh well… I’ll sleep early tomorrow!! Later and gnight/gmorning!!
Halloween Gifty

The above was my little inspiration for the below project. M had pirate day at school some weeks ago and we gathered stuff for that event. After putting on the head pieces she ran out and hid and I followed with the camera and captured this photo. This was also the reason why she decided that she’ll dress up too for Halloween. I think she’ll be the cutest pirate around! {::SMILES}.
So, I dunno, after making a few Halloween stuff this year I’m kind of liking Halloween a bit more. I guess I’ve always just thought of it as another (over) commercialized…. plus cavities… day. Granted M rarely eats her trick-or-treat candies I do like the box above, stamped using the Beware set from Clear and Simple Stamps, and I plan on putting some yummy dark chocolate in there for her. Yup, she’s dark chocolate!
Short and sweet again today. I have a few things to take care of this week (a few projects to finish, blog post scheduling, mail, house sitter, etc.) because we’ll be leaving in a few days for a whole week. We’ll be in the Somerset area in a quaint little cottage with no Internet. I know, I rented a place, for 7 days, with no Internet. It’ll be great fun though and we’re all looking forward to it. I had been wanting to go to Paris but with the current travel alert and strikes I’ve been (unhappily) persuaded to change plans. See ya!
Afternoon Tea

Did you or will you get some crafty or just me time in this weekend? I hope so! It helps me when I do, even when it’s just a tiny bit. That little time to myself makes me feel very good, especially now that I’m staying home with the family. Next month I need to start putting some work time in too, I have an online class that I’m teaching next spring! Very looking forward to that!!! I am hoping for that regular adult interaction… even if it’s virtually.
A few days ago I got to sit down and create this. It’s a very simple page but I like how it turned out. Clean and simple. The best part, it took me 15 minutes to do!!
I think I mentioned in a previous post that I’ve gotten into the habit of afternoon tea since I got here. So now at around 4 p.m. I got to make or buy me something to drink. Afternoon tea isn’t just tea, I’ll do coffee or chai latte, the point of it all is that I sit down and get me a nice warm drink with either some biscuits or a cake. I think it’s my new best habit since going potty in the toilet!!
The above page is a digital page. I used a paper pack from Jessica Sprague’s store: Basically Checked + Striped by in the Making Designs that’s debuting on Monday. I like these types of pages because not only is it nice looking it is also inexpensive to create either with paper, digitally, or hybrid. If you have a nice, favorite, pack of paper with white cardstock you can create something like the above. Most have a sewing machine, whether in a box or just sitting out there collecting dust, and like my page, you don’t have to sew pretty. Actually it’s probably why I like this so much, cause the sewing looks so like me, HA!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend! More later!!!
Rainy Saturday

Well, Jovie pushed “publish” by accident. So I’ll just make this really short… a card using this week’s WM sketch, no. 19, and Teeny Trees WM stamp. It’s a clean and simple, the 3rd cardstock cause I got the other two inked up here and there. Ahhh…. white, love and hate!
Ok, gotta go, market time!!
