Me, A Boy

Sweet Tenderness

I’m not blessed in the female upper body department. It was tough growing up cause most if not all of my girl friends had some sort of shape but not Savitri. Nursing was great because for a little bit I had some curves. When I went back to work after maternity leave I think one of the first things I said to my colleague was: “Check this out” while posing. I know, very professional, huh? Ha ha ha…. But it was one of the many reasons why I loved working there, I had an awesome group of female colleagues whom I could talk about whatever with.

But, good things tend to have an ending and my ending was emphasized the other night.

M: Mommy, are you turning into a boy because you’re starting to have no boobies.

I think my jaw dropped and hubby was quite speechless although after a few he did come back with this: “Well, you’ll have a smaller chance of breast cancer” (PS, he knows that size doesn’t matter in terms of getting cancer but he had to say it anyways). GRRRRR!!!!!

So my days of fitting well into form fitting outfits are over. Jovie, although still rummaging now and then, has been weened and Savitri is back to her old self and still a girl.

Page details…

This page is very simple. I used another Pencil Lines sketch, 206, for this layout. Speaking of, you should check this out. Guess who won June’s Pencil Line layout of the month? I wouldn’t have known if Amy Tsuruta didn’t tell me. I mean PL is in my gReader but I’ve been behind in checking that thing.

The pattern paper came from Pink Paislee and the background paper is Jillibean Soup. The base craft shop, yes they have a good size scrapbook store but very expensive, had a 50% off and I got a few things. To add a bit of texture I added a Prima pearl swirl and a little sticker from K&Co. I didn’t want to have a lot of stuff. I just wanted to focus on the pretty papers and the photo.

This was Emma loving sleeping Jovie. M wasn’t asleep, she was very into High School Musical, but she had to hold her baby sister. I know I’ve said this a few times before but I want to say it again, I hope this continues for the rest of their lives! This kind of memories make me very happy inside as a person and mother.

Sweet Tenderness

Alright, got to pick up the big girl from cheerleading. Laters!

Caught Up!

Mom's Baby Girl

Don’t you ever feel like after a vacation, long or short, that you need another vacation just to get back into your routine and take care of things that you left behind? Granted I don’t have a job I still feel that way after the Germany trip. I think I am caught up with my stuff though and trying to get motivated to do some house painting. I want to do the kitchen, my craft room and the girls’ bedroom. I want to do an IKEA run too with the hubby. We need some storage solution. He’s never been either and I want to show him the “mini airport”.

I can’t believe it’s almost October. October is bitter sweet for me. It’s sweet because it’s a wonderful fall month but it’s a bit on the bitter end too because every year on this month I get a tad bit older. Well, maybe I’ll be like an awesome wine… gets better as it ages, ha!

Before I get to the layout info, thanks for the good wishes! Jovie is feeling much better I think. She only woke up once last night! Also thanks for all the shop suggestions. I haven’t gone yet but will check those stores out. Online the styles look nice.

About the page…

This girl is REALLY a momma’s girl. It’s a bit overwhelming at times because she only wants me, even when hubby or M is around. I get pooped and at the end of the day and all I look forward to is that little bit of me time… the one that I can get after everybody goes to bed. I am hoping that this will past!!

I did my usual small layers of embellishments. There’s a bit of Pink Paislee, Basic Grey paper that I trimmed out, sheet note, brad, etc. Just little things to make it seem like Jovie was looking out to see the below instead of whatever it was when I took the photo (I think it was nothing).

Mom's Baby Girl

Just for some extra visual I added this button and a piece of circle paper under it. I wanted to get an office feel into this layout. I dunno, just felt like it ya know {::SMILE}.

Mom's Baby Girl

Well that’s it. I was browsing the Internet last night, looked at a few challenge galleries and goodness, the colors one from Ning are a must do!! I wish I have more time!!!

Hope everybody has a great one!!! More later!

Remembering You

Topiaries, CSS Sept. Release

If you’re a mom you know that sick kidlets, babies especially, can be the most challenging and sweetest time. Jovie’s sick, been sick since last night. I ended up sleeping on the floor next to her crib because she’d wake up and not go back to sleep a few times since she went to bed. If hubby didn’t have to go to work so early in the morning I’d bring Jovie in to our room but he needed his sleep too so the floor was it for me.

Just before the writing of this post I was cuddling Jovie. She fell asleep while I was holding her and rubbing her little head. It felt so nice to hold their little body close and if you’re a mom you know what I’m talking about. She was on me for a little while before I laid her down. I just wanted to remember the moment because I know one day I’d wake up and she’d be going off to college. I still can’t believe how big M is now and I keep telling both girls to not grow up so quickly.

Today I also have a simple little card created using Clear and Simple’s Topiaries set. It’s a simple little card with rich colors (I love CSS’s card stock and ink colors) which I really love because it’s a reflection of my life right now. Simple but full of love and happiness — riches that no money can buy. I love my little family, wonderful kids and a hubby who’s not only a great partner but a great and loving daddy.

I hope today, if you haven’t that is, you take the time to reach out and hold those who are dear to you. Life is precious and you never know what tomorrow will hold. Now is what you have, take advantage of it!!

NOTE: All materials by Clear and Simple Stamps except for the twine and white card stock.

My Friends

Sunshine

I didn’t know that blog peeps talk and even meet in real life. Even though I’ve always used a chat application or use social network sites like Facebook I only talk or add people that I know in real life or those I work/have worked with. But as I blog more and visit certain people regularly we became friends. Sometimes I think I know my blog friend more than my real friend. Weird I know but that’s how it is. Meeting people with the same hobby (or addiction) has helped in the creative department. Back in the days my card was more less like the above and now it’s gotten to be a bit more busy, a bit more fun, with a little bit more details.

I have to say that if it wasn’t because of my blog friends I wouldn’t still be crafting as much and blogging on a regular basis. But because of all your comments, encouragement, inspiration and friendship I am still going. It’s hard to just give a shout out to one or even a handful. I’ve drawn inspiration from so many! So here’s to all of you.

This is the theme for the PTI blog hop this month. I am late at entering but I thought I’d give it a go anyways.

PS: It was so hard making the above card!!  If you’re interested in learning how to tie that ribbon, with all the dots facing forward, check out this old video of mine. I’ve perfected it since but haven’t gotten the chance to redo the video. There’s less adjusting and it looks like the above.

On Settling

Happy Birthday

As a military family we think about where we’ll be next. If I can have it my way I’d love it if we stay overseas until hubby’s done with the military. Then after that I hope to secure a job outside the U.S. and travel some more. Although I’d be happy retiring outside the U.S. hubby would rather go back so that he can be closer to his good friends (he’s also not too crazy about European taxes). I love America but I feel like there are still so many places to see out there, old and ancient places especially.

We’ve talked about places we’d like to settle in the U.S. but we still can’t pinpoint one. I said Vermont but he’s more into the western states. Colorado keeps popping up so we might take a big trip there after his time is done with the Air Force. I told him that wherever it is we have to be within an hour of an International airport so that I can catch last minute deals to Ecuador for example. I know, I have my priorities {::SMILES}.

Today I’d like to share a Mischief Maker card. I love how the card turned out. It’s the colors that I love the most, just soft and still fun. There’s a bit of yellow, blue, green, brown, white, and sand. I love the flower too. I can’t remember where I got it from but it’s from here in England. It was cheap, £1, for a dozen. I just tied the wire around the butterfly. I was ok with the wires exposed that way. I thought it gave the butterfly more dimension. I also layered some burlap and tags. The tags are based on the sketch — see the resemblance?

Happy Birthday

Then the ribbon, button and twine. Lately it’s all about these three items!! For the stamping I used two Waltzingmouse sets: Victorian Frippery and Teeny Trees. The pattern paper are all digital paper. The tags came from a Zoe Pearns kit: Away We Go and main pattern paper from her collab kit with Lauren Grier: Come Away with Me.

Happy Birthday

Yes, I’ve been hybrid happy this month because of my new laser printer. That this is nice and if you’re ever wanting to get a color printer, wait a few months, save up a bit more and get a laser. Better print and cheaper in the long run because the cartridges (expensive up front) last so much longer.

Have a great weekend and craft away!!!
