Celebrate

Another week and I’m at home just relaxing with the girls while waiting for Mr. Brown. This lens that I’ve been waiting for months was finally shipped from Adorama (I buy from Adorama, B&H, and Calumet). So excited and I can’t wait to try it out!!! Hopefully I can use it decently and share some photos soon!

Last night while hubby and I watched loads of Law and Order (my FAVORITE show) I made a couple cards. M was creating me with but she collapsed on the couch after three cards. I had a few card making stuff with me last night, I was creating on the coffee table. I’m doing this to see what I use the most. We found out last week that it’ll take 35-55 days for our belongings to get to England and I still want to be able to do crafty stuff during that time. So far everything fits into a small craft bag. Pretty good! We are allowed 2 suitcases/pp at 70lbs each bag so my small bag of craft goodies will be on the plane with me with clothes and who knows what else. So from April – May you’ll most likely see the same stamp sets (mostly PTI cause they take less space to store) and a two handful of colors over and over again and whatever pattern paper that in my little paper carrier.

Alrighty, more later! The card was created with some scrap paper, Jenni Bowlin and Making Memories, with a chipboard tag from American Craft. The twill ribbon and pom-poms I got from WalMart. The stamp is PTI and the ink is SU.

Merry Tag

Hi again! How’s your weekend? Ours has been very nice — lots of family visits! I did though manage to make something, a Christmas tag for Miss M. The stocking is a hybrid… or digital stamp by Melissa Bennet:

Magic Brush

Do you know that digital stamps have been around for awhile? In the digital world these stamps are also called brushes. Melissa has a lot of digital stamps/brushes in her store. You should check them out! If you search the store for “brush” or “digital stamps” you’d be surprises at what you can find at Sweet Shoppe!

Hybrid Tag

The tag is K&Co and the merry is my handwriting.

Have a nice one! I hope to be able to make something else this week. I took the whole week off, yeah me!!!

Photo Tut: The Manual

Posted on | November 20, 2009 | No Comments

Hey folks, it’s me again and this time I’m going to be writing about… photography! As you know I’m no pro but I LOVE LOVE LOVE to take pictures and read + learn whatever I can to make my photos better. I’m going to start sharing my knowledge in hopes that it’ll help you too. I’ve gotten some emails on this topic… how-to do something with the camera/software or which camera to buy and stuff. Then lately I’ve been seeing blog posts asking how to take better pictures for their cards and families.

There’s probably already something out there but hey, why not, right? Knowledge I think should be shared and the more places you can get them the better. Some posts I might just do a summary and links to more details info — there are tons out there from professionals and my Google Reader is full of information on photography. For my photo posts, I’m going to go from a blogger and scrapbooker point of few. My main interest and passion is portraits and family events/moments… as you can tell from my family photos… but later after we move I might go into landscape and travel photography too. We’ll see… Just keep in mind that I’m not a pro. I’m just sharing the info I’ve received this semester from my class, other sites and forum, and my few years of using an SLR camera. Maybe by doing this I’ll be motivated to keep learning too or get a tip or two from you who are more experienced than I am in this field! Just look at my photo posts to be a place to get info, whether it’s from me or from other sites that I’ll share with you in that topic. Here I go…

Step one. If you have a camera go dig out your manual and learn about your camera. This whole semester of taking photography class this is the one thing that my instructor kept harping us about: READ YOUR MANUAL! By reading the manual you’ll be able to be a better photographer. How can you follow a tutorial if you don’t know where on your camera the button is? Every camera is different and that’s why it’s important to know yours via reading the manual.

K, so that was lame, huh? But seriously, go find your manual and read about it and next time I’ll share more (maybe more exciting) photography info.

Thinking of You

Posted on | November 19, 2009 | 6 Comments

Hiya, I was going to post this yesterday but my Internet was broken and I was too tired to go downstairs and investigate and so here it is… Just a little hybrid card

Thinking of You

The papers are from Danielle Engebretson A Grand New Day:

Grand New Day

And a little strip from Sugarplum Paperie, Tiny Princess:

Sugarplum Paperie Tiny Princess

As you can see there are tons of pretty paper in a set. I just printed these two on one piece of paper. This is one thing I love about hybrid. I can print as much as I want or use up everything I print without feeling like I need to hoard it because I can print more! The sentiment, cardstock, and ribbon  is PTI and the butterfly is inkadinkado.

Ok, hope your day will be nice. M and I are going for a hair trim this evening. I moved office buildings yesterday. I am in the huge campus library sharing a huge office with my supervisor. It’s nice when you’re friends with your super, making sharing rooms a pleasant thing. Now we don’t have to IM each other (we did this all the time even though our offices were next to each other). Drove hubby nuts! But we’d have to be quiet. We’ve been shh’d a few times in the other building because a test was going on the the lab behind my wall — thin walls! We love to laugh and giggle ha ha ha…
