Joy

Hey again, just a quickie little post for the day. It’s wet and dreary here in my little town. I had this post set to auto-publish (don’t you just LOVE this feature of a blog? I mean really, did you think I was up at 3 a.m. to post to my blog so that I’ll be read during your morning blurfing? {::SMILES} I wish YouTube has this option so that I can set both to auto-publish with me being involved!) but thought I’d interject a bit to give you a weather update.

Joy Christmas Card

So here’s a card that I did last night. I started out by grabbing this white cardstock, leftover from my last SU workshop, and stamped the sentiment. Hmmm I thought, plain. I mean I did challenge myself to a one layer card but that alone did not look right. So I looked around and there it was, a My Mind’s Eyes paper that’s still brand new. So I cut and I glued it on. Hmmmm again. Still blah and I started rummaging through my loose ribbon bin (that’s my other goal, to use up what’s in that bin) and I found some ric racs (what a silly name, btw). Then I realized that my sentiment was crooked. Oh well. It’ll go well with my Christmas tree… I have this fake tree, $20 from Sears – after Christmas sale 10 years ago (Savitri is always into bargains and waiting for the “after” sales), and it’s ALWAYS crooked when I put it together (if hubby puts it up it’s never crooked so it’s not the tree, it’s me). Hmmm again. Aaaah, got these Christmas buttons from PaperTrey (just got them in the mail with some Dawn McVey’s stamps!). Three buttons later, some PTI twine and corner roundings I was done.

Cardstock… I am a Stampin’ Up! demo (at least for now, I still keep wanting to quit cause I’m my only loyal customer but somehow I’m always meeting my quota and so I’m still on) but my favorite white card stock is PaperTrey’s. I heard that Gina K’s is nice too but since I’ve never tried I can’t say. But SU vs PTI, PTI wins by a land slide. Just really nice and thick! The above was done on SU paper. I am trying to finish them up so that I can 100% convert to PTI white. Also they’re a tad bit slicker. might be nice for coloring, I dunno since I can’t color worth anything, but for me, I can do without the slickness. Actually I prefer it. For hybrid, if I want to run it through my printer and it’s not a base, the Walmart/Office Deport whites are fine (it says 110lbs but still not as good as SU’s even). Cheap too. But for a base, the thicker the better. If you haven’t switched over do try it out. You’ll notice a HUGE difference and it’ll make your cards look so much better because it’s standing up tall {::SMILE}.

So that’s my cardstock talk. I’m sure you’ve heard it before {::SMILES}. Have a great one!!

things always turn out crooked for me too! just when i’ve convinced myself it’s not me, it’s the tree or insert whatever crooked item, J steps in and makes it perfect. (why don’t they just do these things themselves in the first place???) i really want to try out the papertrey paper. i must place an order soon!

Great Christmas card! I usually buy the big pack of white cardstock at Walmart. It’s pretty thick and cheap and I use alot of it! I just bought some PTI paper with this month’s order and it came in today, so I think I will try it out! I was a SU! demonstrator a couple of years ago, I never did anything with it, I just wanted the good deal on the kit! :)

I love PTI’s cardstocks, period. Kraft or white :P Am ordering more in other shades too and I do adore them very much.

Used to use K&Co and Bazzill paper for the base but it’s not as thick as PTI’s. Love love LOVE ‘em! :)

Love your card too… simple, one layer and fabulous! :D
