I {Heart} You

I heart you

Here’s a little Bam Pop that I’ve been hoarding for over a year. I thought it’s about time to use this little guy and paper. It’s a super fast card… another one I whipped out. Seems like that’s my style lately {::SMILES}.

Just a quickie post for tonight. I also want to share this video tut that I made at work last week. It’s a little Word 2007 tip. I’m going to start doing a tip of the day type of videos for work… we’ll see how long that’ll last… that I’ll be posting on my work blog. I did create  my very first online training tutorial (a whooping 35 min!) and people seem to like it. I’ll be doing more of that for work the next few months… trying to leave a little piece of me behind he he he…

Jovie’s Baptismal

Posted on | September 28, 2009 | 11 Comments

Jovie had a very lovely baptismal. The priest who did it wasn’t our regular and so we weren’t sure what he was going to do (he kept saying he’s never dropped a baby before) and we thought he did a very nice job. The reading we could have done without (I’ll write where it’s from when I find the bulletin) but it was about cutting your hand off if your hand sins and plucking your eye out if your eye sins.

Anyhow, here are some pics… the dress is a hand-me-down (like most of Jovie’s stuff) from M and her booties were sent all the way from Malaysia by the lovely Cindy. Jovie was asleep before the event. She woke up a bit before the water hit her head but she didn’t cry throughout the whole ceremony.

Baptismal

Ok, so THIS was why the priest kept saying he’s never dropped a kid. I guess this is how he presents the newest member of the church to everyone there. It was really neat. I’ve never seen any of the priest do it this way.

Baptismal

Just us being blessed. The godmother is my best friend here in town. M LOVES her and her little boy. I think one day we’re going to be related since M and the little man get a long so well and he ALWAYS ask for M (and M does too) he he he… it’s so so cute! The godfather couldn’t make it and my friend’s husband was kind enough to stand in for him.

Baptismal

Jovie and dad. We had lunch downtown after the event. Check out this little daddy’s girl. Of course the husband’s ecstatic about her loving him like this. M was and is a momma’s girl and we think it’s mostly because he was gone a lot when M was little. So he’s so happy to have a second chance!

Jovie and Dad

There’s sister. I love my M’s style. Fancy dress with converse {::SMILES}. Love her little dress. It’s a Hanna Anderssen dress that I found at a consignment store. I {HEART} consignment stores!!! I hope there are some in England!!!!

Emma

Here’s our little angel. She’ll be four months this weekend. Time goes by!!!! She’s starting to grab things. Not very well but trying to.

Jovie

This is a close-up of her booties. CUTE CUTE CUTE! I need to put her little outfit back on again today. I never got a close-up picture of her and her garb. We (as usual) were rushing out the door.

A 2S4Y Card

Welcome Home

I had a few minutes today and whipped this thing out using Laura’s sketch. I thought the house was smaller but I guess not. But hey, a sketch, like anything else, can be tweaked, right? {::SMILES} I used My Little Shoebox and My Mind’s Eyes for this card. The ribbon I got from somewhere.. it was loose in my loose ribbon box.

Ok, I’m going to bed folks! Tomorrow’s Jovie’s baptismal. It’ll be totally low key, just us and the godmother but it’s the purpose that counts, right? I’ll share some cute photos tomorrow… esp. of Jovie in cute little bootie that Cindy. Thanks again, Cindy!!!

My Mastercard Priceless Moment

Since last Thursday we’ve been on a UK move paperwork kick. The latest thing we had to do was figure out the cost of our dogs’ transport. We have a Lhasa and a terrier mix (size of a collie). In order to take our dogs to the UK without going through the quarantine process we have to follow UK’s Pet Travel Scheme (PETS) rules and regulations.

July:

Chip (another)+Vaccine(and another)+Rabies test: $200/ea

NOTE: The dogs have chips and vaccines but they had to get another chip because it needed to be the Euro type. Also, for them to go through the PETS program, you have to follow each step according to the PETS order and within their timeline.

Just yesterday from Continental Air:

Flying the Lhasa from Kansas City to London Heathrow: $667
Flying the terrier mix/Shady Girl: $887

Care in their Houston doggy facility: $100

To claim your animals in London, the first animal: $530
The second animal: $16.23
Keep in mind this is for M-F 9a.m.-5p.m. any other hours/weekends are more, weekends a lot more.

Total: $2,196.23

Oh, don’t forget the kennels (series 200 and 400): $120

Watching my Lhasa tip-toe in front of a sleeping (but peaking) Shady and then dashing away with Shady chasing him and unconditional love: Priceless. Imagine Jerry tip-toeing pass Tom and Tom’s not asleep.

So that’s that. After calling all four airlines, Continental seems to be the best with British Air being the most expensive ($800 just for the Lhasa from JFK). Virgin (their dogs’ air fare was $1175, $11.75/kilo basically, from JFK) and Delta’s a toss-up but Continental won us because of the doggy facility in Houston and the whole process seems the least stressful for me (Delta didn’t seem very single adult friendly with $1860 air fare from KC) since I’ll be hauling carry-ons and two kids. Where’s the husband? It might be different by the time comes but right now we’re looking at him going there first and we’ll follow in a month or two. I’m use to traveling alone overseas but with two kids and two dogs, hmmmm…. it’ll be to blog for probably ha ha…

Just a little bit of info since it was hard for me to find the cost of flying a dog to the UK when I was Googling. I just wanted to get an idea on how must it would cost to transport our dogs without having to call the airlines.

Is It Only Wednesday?

Wow! It’s been soooooo busy here!!!! The in-laws were here, which was nice, gave us some time to get away from the kids and also visit. M loooooves her grandma and it’s so neat to watch them interact. Then we had lots of house chores because this week’s full of people looking. Crossing fingers that somebody will buy the house soon!! I have a RE license and so I’m the selling agent for our own house. Anybody moving my way? Check it out!

Monday and Wednesday evenings are M time. She has gymnastics and Awana. I usually work out Tuesday evening but couldn’t yesterday because of the house. Hubby’s working 12hrs shifts too for a week and so it’s just me, myself, and I doing all the picking up and dropping off of the kids starting today. On top of that, I might have to look for another provider for Jovie. The lady asked if I can pick her up at 4… or 4:30p.m. at the latest. She said she starts her day at 4:30a.m. and Jovie… being a baby… needs more work. By 5p.m. the lady’s exhausted. I told her I work until 5 and so that’s just not possible. She said ok but I dunno, seems like there’s always something and it’s only been 1.5 month. It just sucks though cause we’re not planning on being here much longer. So far she hasn’t asked us to take Jovie somewhere else but I just feel like I need to find another place. Wouldn’t you? So, busy busy busy!!

Ok, nuff of that. Here’s a card that I made last night. I had to wind down after all the above:

Remember When

I used up all the digital stuff that I printed out last week. This is another of Angela Woo’s work from TDC: Sweet Celebration. Love the cupcakes!!! I am loving my huge corner punch too. I got the EK Success one and so far it works awesome. I thought of getting the big one, the same company who makes the Crop-A-Dile, but it was too spendy and who knows when I’ll punch through cardboard. I will prob. get it but maybe not until Christmas or something {::SMILES}.

Have a great one! I’m getting so random at posting, huh? Well, if you haven’t done so, go ahead and subscribe to my blog. This way you won’t be disappointed when you come visit and there’s nothing new.
