Heart-to-Heart

Another page using more pretty My Mind’s Eyes paper. I think I’ve used everything I bought from Archiver’s the other weekend. I am doing GOOD! The stickers are super old K&CO, Brenda somebody stickers. I picked them up at a K&Co warehouse store (K&Co is a Kansas City company). Paired them up with some new K&Co and M loves it. The photo of M was terrible, too dark, and so I turned it to the above to make it usable. Gotta love post-processing! Next time I’ll post the original photo, so you can see how bad it is in compare to the one I eventually use.
The heart-to-heart… my M just had a terrible day yesterday at school. She has a little friend and they’re like sisters… hugs and fights. We ate out and the place was loud so we didn’t talk much then — we usually ask and talk about our days at the dinner table. Before bed I asked her how her day was and she got mopey. I asked her to tell me and she told me about her friend and how she treated her that day. We had a nice talk about feelings and how we should try to act if something like that happens again. We cuddled after the talk and I told her that she can ALWAYS talk to me about anything and I told her I’ll never be mad or make her feel bad and if there’s a problem we’ll try to figure it out together.
That was our first big talk. We’ve talked before but usually really short or me telling her why we punished her and if she understood and asked her why/what she was feeling/thinking when she did the “bad” behavior. It was really nice to talk and listen to her that way and I hope that she’ll continue to trust me with her feelings. I never want my kids (or hubby) to think they’re alone in this world.
I was never close to my parents that way. They’re great providers and they love me but not ones for talks. My grandpa was the person I turned to for that but he’s gone now. It was so nice to have my grandpa there for me that way growing up and I hope I can do that for M and #2. Have a great one!
M & Mom Project

I’m just sitting here enjoying (slurping to be more exact) my lunch. I’ve been having these weird, weekly, cravings of chocolate shakes. I had a big brunch and the way my stomach is nowadays I can’t eat much anyhow. So my lunch is Wendy’s chocolate shake and a gigantic ice tea — prob. too big for me. I forgot that “big” in the fast food world is not 20 oz. Hubby said Wendy’s has the best shake in town (we live in a small college/military town so not a lot of choices) and he said it’s at least made out of real ice cream. Really? We’re healthy eaters and being pregnant I know I should keep to my usual diet but man, these Sonic burger and chocolate shake cravings have made me close my eyes and just swallow.
I’ve never had strawberry shortcake before and last month or so I was at WalMart and I was like the Road Runner who stopped, backed up, gawked at the strawberry shortcake and without hesitation dropped the container in my cart. When I got home I ate two of them before dinner. Yes, TWO! They were the yummiest darn thing even though the ingredients had a lot of words that I was (still not) familiar with. But really, I thought the cakes were a tiny piece of heaven! Momma and baby were delighted!!!
Any whoot… here’s a pom-poms elephant project that M and I did. We got the kit at Jo-Anns and they were just a few bucks on clearance. M wanted to make this for her good friend at school. Of course I had to put it together since it required the glue gun. Such a cute and super easy project (you only need to know how to count, not color challenged, stack, and use the glue gun — besides the glue most everything else you’ve learned in kindergarden, ha!). We have a few more animals that we can make from the package. M has a few more friends she wants to give gifties to.
I hope you’re doing well this Wednesday day. We started our outside garden yesterday. We believe/hope that there will be no rain for the next few days so that our tilled area can sit until it’s turned over and fertilize this week. It’s our second year doing this. Any tips? The first year only half did well… we had A LOT of rain… and hope this year we’d get at least 3/4 of our veggies from our garden.
A Bit of This and That

Here’s a card with a little bit of American Craft sticker, some pom-poms, Love Elsie chipboard button, lace and SU stamp. Oh, there are some stapling too. I just wanted to use up some of my stuff. I’ve been very good at using some of my old stash. It’s kind of my goal for this year too.
I’m not in writing mode. The weather’s been cold and gloomy… this seems to get this preggo girl’s mood quite a bit lately. Laters!
I Am Dumb

Here’s my card for 2Sketches4You this week. Kazan sketch #24. Another versatile sketch and you can see the other DT’s work and also what prizes DeNami has in store for you. There’s also a 2S4Y DT call for this summer. My term ends this month (so so sad) and a new (awesome I’m sure) team will replace us. If you have the time, try it out. It’s THE best team I’ve ever been in. We do get some awesome freebies but Kazan and Laura make the experience so fun and we got got to know each member of the team a lot more too. Honestly I didn’t expect to be chosen but I thought why not and here I am. Like anything (publication submission, etc.) you just never know until you try.
Ok, my preggo tip of the day: At 32.5-weeks, put your pointy toes and high heel boots (or shoes) in the very back corner of your closet. Forget fashion and just think of comfort. Or, go for the shoes and be like me. There was a breakfast at work that I helped organized and walking around, looking decently good, with them shoes were no fun. Walking across campus from the student union to my office, in the rain (with arms full of stuff), was terrible. My back, pubic bone, inner thighs, are sore. Dumb me and there’s nobody to blame but ME.
Alrighty, have a great day and I hope yours is less painful than mine {::SMILES}.
Happy Easter!
