A Tiny Bit of My Past…

Not a Fairy Tale

I didn’t know if I was ever going to scrapbook any with my ex in it but the challenge at Scrapping the Music: White Horse inspired and pushed me to do it. So thanks for the nudge!!

To me, this is a special layout, this was where it started. Unlike some who dislike their exes to pieces, I chose to remember the life we had together, learn, and be the best possible friend to my ex now (we even met up last month). After we separated we talked about our issues then and slowly figured things out. I think now we have most everything sorted out. Our marriage didn’t have a happily ever after and we had some really tough times but we both learned a lot from it and I cherish the experience more than anything else. What happened to us shaped me and made me who I am today and gave me what I have now. I wouldn’t trade today for a different past. It was really tough but things worked itself out. Life is funny that way, huh?

M loves Taylor Swift. She loves that song where Taylor’s wearing a ball gown. We listen to the Disney station on XM so this White Horse song isn’t unfamiliar. But, I rarely listen to the words, I mostly listen to the melody. So the first time I actually listened to the words were the other day at Scrapping the Music. Although not 100% a reflection of my past relationship it reminded me of who I thought I and my relationship was. I always thought (sometimes still do, ha!) that I was a princess, out there is my prince charming, and just like a fairy tale we’d get married and live happily ever after. So I saved myself for that one person and I found him… or so I thought. We were both really young and sometimes, love just isn’t enough to conquer a lot of heavy life changing issues and personal growth. We had a few huge arguments but we didn’t split up because we hated each others’ guts, we split up because we loved each other. We both wanted the other person to be happy, find that special someone, and learn as much as we can about ourselves. Life is about learning and experiencing, right? So here I am and that’s why the song made me create this layout.

I’ve gotten a better head on me now. I still believe in happily ever after and I really feel like my hubby is my prince charming (and the funniest + hottest man alive ha ha ha) but I’m more realistic about it. My current relationship isn’t tough, we’re very different but we really click and compliment each other well, but we both know we need to work hard at it and try our best to listen to each other and remember. I’m a very lucky person. I’ve only had two special men in my life and the little family that my hubby’s sharing with me is more than I could ever ask for. I’ve got a lot to learn still (and my hubby is always there to help me… even if he sometimes just wants to throw me out the window lol) but right now, I feel very very blessed.

Material: Dec.’08 kit from Scarlet Lime, American Craft Thickers, and K&Co Amy Butler tags. Castle is in Carcassonne, France.

My weekend was productive and relaxing. Not a lot of crafting but got the house cleaned and we even visited with a friend and her little man. Laundry is still going but hey, that part of our chore never seems to end, right? Sometimes my laundry pile makes me want to join a nudist colony ha ha ha…

The blog candy… I have put together a few stuff which you can see below. I’m very bad at these types of things. I totally missed my one year blog anniversary and plus I have no idea when it was exactly since I started this blog early last year and didn’t actually do anything to it until months later. I just saw that I’ve passed the 100k mark a long time ago and just checked my Feedburner and I have 320+ subscribers (WOW, very amazed!!!).

So, as a little thank you for subscribing, visiting, and/or leaving comments, I have the following to give to one winner: American Craft alphas + flower/swirly stickers and “Party” pattern paper, a little bit of Amy Butler and Three Bugs in A Rug paper, brads from Doodle Bug and Stammina, and the Jan.’09 Scrapbook Trends magazine. One of my digi layout and tutorial is featured in there and lots and lots of scrappy and a few card inspiration – very fun magazine!!

What you need to do is simple… just leave a comment with a suggestion of an awesome book (or two or more) that I can read at the hospital while I’m waiting for #2 and after she’s born — when she’s asleep and I have nothing else to do at the hospital (the hospital was so relaxing compare to the first few months at home – are you with me, moms?). Reading takes my mind off things (e.g. pain) and of course it’s always more enjoyable when it’s a good book. I love non-fiction (although Harry Potter, Gone with the Wind, and Emma’s awesome too) and my latest read was Jen Lancaster and Three Cups of Tea – which I love. I really enjoy stories about Americans in France, like Almost French or Norton the Cat: The Cat Who Went to Paris (deep inside I wish to live in France). It’s ok if you haven’t read it yourself. If you heard it’s good, let me know! Good luck! I’ll close the blog candy Sunday the 29th at noon CST and it’s open to anybody in any part of the world.

Love You

Blog candy: here {::SMILES}

Hope you’re having a great weekend! I just want to post this really quick and go back to spending the weekend with the family. My ultrasound came out a-ok. I’ve got a mover but she’s normal size and it seemed like all body parts are in there. The tech said I’m just carrying her inside me. That’s why I don’t quite look 29-wks and hurting everywhere — including a hard time breathing. I think if I were 2″ taller I’d be better… more space he he…

Material: Making Memories paper pack (I JUST bought it at the lake where my conference was at — what a coincidence, butterfly from Stampin’ Up! (mini catty), ribbon from Jo-Anns (the cheapy ones they carry, on sale for $1), felt flower from American Craft, button and twine from stash. Color inspired by Kristina Werner, #46, black, regal red, riding hood red, pretty in pink, and bashful blue.

More laters!

Oh It’s Friday!!!

Opportunity

Hey! Hope you had a great week!!! I’m away from home… at a conference… thus the little posting and blog hopping. But I got this made before I left and I thought I’d share today.

I can’t wait to go home. Miss my little family already! One more presentation this morning and I am free. Yeah!!! I did though have a great time just chit-chatting with two of my work friends here… We went back to our rooms early but it was nice to just hang out with no need to go back to anybody. So that part was a treat although I wish I had a long island or at least a glass of wine to drink too. I could have a tiny bit, half a glass, of wine but I didn’t want people to stare at me ha ha… my last drink was months ago.

Have a great one! More later!!!!

Material: Scraps from previous pages… sketch from Pencil Lines.

My Girl

My Girl

M wanted me to tell everybody THANK YOU for all the nice words you said about her card. She said she’d like to make more and share them with my “pretend” friends. Actually yesterday she said: “share with your friends who reads your Internet.” Wow, my baby’s learning he he.

Here’s another scrap page. I used a little bit of stuff from Scarlet Lime, SU, and Prima. I really like the SU chipboard but it’s just, for me at least, time consuming to trim the cardstock/pattern paper. I think I’ve just been spoiled with the pre-done ones or the die-cut machine.

Another simple card. Just a few pretty papers a photo and a collage of embellishments on one side. I feel like I really need to go scrap shopping. I have stuff still but not THE perfect embellishments. Don’t you hate that? Ahh… oh well, maybe I’ll order a few stuff online… but I so so love going to Archivers and touch EVERYTHING! Hubby hates it ha ha ha!!!
