Tut: Scalloped Edges

Posted on | January 31, 2009 | 4 Comments

Self Timer Woah, a tutorial!! It’s been a while, huh? This one’s an easy one. Basically it’s learning how to be cleverer than Photoshop, ha! I use this trick to outline a lot of stuff with my magic wand. I use this to create pieces for my KnK too (which I’ll share soon enough… the converting to different extensions is a bit challenging since there are different machines out there). I just dump a solid color (black) to the selected area, save it and import it to KnK to cut.

Here’s a sample layout that I did. See the scalloped piece on the top right? Scalloping is cool. I use it a lot for my paper craft too!

This tut was done in CS3 but the technique/idea can be used in previous versions -- maybe Elements. You tell me.

Well enjoy and hopefully I can get on the video tutorial momentum again. Oh, if you can’t see the video very well or the High Quality is a bit much, go to the YouTube video page. It is though much better looking in HQ. For my tuts I’ll probably stick with HQ even though I figured out all the settings for HD. HQ is clear enough and not as slow.

I’m going to the city. Hopefully I can sucker hubby to take me to Archivers. I forgot to subliminally insert it into his head last night, ha!

Mature Language, Parental Discretion is Advised

Thanks for Lunch A friend share a few personal concerns with me and after all is taken care of told me that she hopes one day I can feel like I can share some of my junk with her. Well I have no (serious) relationship issue right but by golly, she asked and so I wrote (she emailed me) the following (uber late) Wednesday night:

Oh, my junk… my tits itch and my feet are stinkier than usual. This hormonal crap is driving me insane. Oh, I had split ends too on my hair. I never had split ends! I had to get sick hair shampoo which cost 2.5x as much. My crotch bone was sore. Felt like somebody punched me. On top of that my left ass hurts too. Too early for that! Glad the B12 worked. Feels a lot better today! My husband beat me up with a pillow last night because I woke him up. Well, he wasn’t suppose to wake up. I was quietly whispering in his ears trying to get some names in his thick skull — subliminal messages ya know. The asshole me, after he got all nice and comfy again + half asleep, had to do it just one more time. I think after that he was wishing I didn’t exist or not pregnant so that we could actually box. Tonight I made the shittiest enchiladas. I never used corn tortilla, I didn’t know you have to warm them up. They cracked when I rolled them. Damn! So there’s my junk.

There was also a P.S.: “I am still awake and away from my husband. Why? Cause I cannot, for the life of me, quit farting. It’s terrible. I wish I can stay away from me!!!!

Today I ruined our steak. Either the Porterhouse was terrible or I was. They were tough! The good news, I quit farting and my husband is still the sweetest man, catering to my every preggo woman’s needs, even though he’d probably punch me out (for reals) if I try the subliminal thing again (and I will try again). Ha ha. I laughed so hard after he got done beating me up. No name yet. He does not like what I like and vice versa. They’re all just ok. My hypnotic charms will one day work on him {::SMILES}.

My card… everything is PaperTrey except for the Hambly rub-on bird and the Imaginisce flower and brad. I almost used up everything I purchased from them. I have one more set and a cardstock color to try out. I must say, you all are right, PTI does have the best white cardstock. It’s very thick. As thick as the SU color cardstocks. I wonder why the SU white isn’t as thick.

Have a great one!

Living Life – OLW

Posted on | January 28, 2009 | 9 Comments

Living Life Baby names… urgh! So hard! All the names we’ve saved up for the last 4+ years are now uber popular names. Emma’s bad enough – we didn’t know it was the #1 name in 2004!!! So we’re trying to do different but it’s tough! Was it hard for you?

So here’s another scrappy page using more of my Scarlet Lime goodies. I think I used a bit here and there. As always when I’m scrapping with a lot of products I have a hard time keeping up. Maybe one day I’ll get better {::SMILES}. I used One Little Word: Living as an inspiration for this layout. I haven’t played there in a while and they always have a nice word and lots of great inspirations. If you’re wondering what she was doing don’t ask. I wondered too. She was just running around in circles on the trampoline making silly faces. Living the life of a 4-yr-old.

How has your week been going? Mine’s ok. Nothing magnificent/terrible happened. I am though tired of cold weather; I cannot wait until it’s over!!! On the scrappy front, I am behind. I’ve only made seven pages and my goal is 10. I guess I have a few days left until the end of the month, huh? Just have been feeling like cards lately. Oh well, it’s ok. Maybe next month I’ll catch up. I want to do more M’s pages before baby W comes a long.

Ciao!

Happy (belated) Chinese New Year!

Posted on | January 27, 2009 | 8 Comments

Hey Funky Wow! I am a bad person. I totally forgot!! I think the only Chinese thing in me is the fact that I LOVE Chinese food. I think it was my great-great-great grandparents (although I wouldn’t be surprised if there needs to be another “great” added on to the above) who left China and being Indonesian-Chinese during colonial time in Indonesia my family’s more Dutch than Chinese. But, even so, we’ve always celebrated Chinese new year. In the U.S. I am far from any relative. The closest is in Chicago and we’ve never met but we love to email each other and hope to one day meet up. So my Chinese-ness has gone south. Either way, Gong Xi Fat Chai!

I have nothing Chinese new year to share today. Just a sassy page of Miss. M. I created this page based on the Creative Type’s challenge for this week: Retro. Check it out, submit something, a page/card/anything, with them to win an awesome prize. For this page, I used a kit by Jofia (currently at Shabby Pickle). I haven’t used her work in a while.

To get your started, I have a few links to share, free Retro fonts/clip-art:

Have a great one!

Freebie: Paw Die-Cut + Keeping Up with My Goals

Posted on | January 26, 2009 | 31 Comments

HelloBefore I start… if you have an electronic die-cut machine, scroll down. I have a freebie.

If you stopped by a few weeks ago, I mentioned my 2009 goals and one is to do at least two challenges a week. Since then I’ve been pretty dang good! I have also met my “get two things published this year.” I have a Jan. Scrapbook Trends page published (it’s under the Showcase section) and I have another one this Feb. for an online publication called Bella Scraps. Both have been by accident so yes I’ve met my goal but it’s not like I was trying. Do they still count?

So here’s my second challenge for this week, a card created using a 2Sketches4You sketch and also inspired by Caardvarks: polka dots. For the paper I used SU card stock, KI and Damask (the b/w flourishes that I trimmed out of a whole paper) pattern paper, and Sassafrass stamp. The sentiment I think is CTMH. It was a freebie from a scrapbook expo. The ribbons were garage store finds and I used my Nestabilities for the circle and scallop circle behind the owl.

I am home sick today. Just not feeling too hot. Between soreness from being preggo (I had nerve issues with M too) and trying to fight a cold I decided to stay home. The good thing out of it… after a nice nap and some tea, I could whip up a card {::SMILES}.

Paw Outer
Paw Inner

The freebie… a while back I made this paw print for this layout. To download, just right click and “save as.”

Just FYI, I only have a KnK but from what I read, those with other machines (Wishblade, CraftRobo, Cricut Expression with proper software) will be able to import either the SVG, DXF, or PDF file. For the JPEG images, just click on the paw images to download them.

Alrighty, have a great one. I think I’ll nap some more!
