FREEBIES and Jane died

Posted on | August 30, 2008 | 2 Comments |

Jane, hubby’s “older” woman died. He took it to the shop after she wouldn’t switch gears and Friday afternoon, the mechanic got it running, took it on a test drive and she just quit as if she ran out of gas. So, guess who was feeling uber super depressed? Uhuh! To make him feel better, we got some comfort food for dinner: fried catfish, okra, fries, and hushpuppies (hubby’s from Mississippi — I guess it’s a Southern thing). After that… I’m at home and he’s probably half drunk downtown somewhere. He called his friend since he wasn’t ready to come home.

I want to share a few things. If you have nothing else better to do this long weekend or this is just that special weekend for you to do LOTS of arts and crafts or need to shop, one of these might be for you…

  1. My first template: PDF, SVG (for Cricut, I think), or JPG. This is the tree template that I used in M’s card with all the butterflies.
  2. Not huge on Halloween but need to do a few Halloweenie projects? Well, why not use Dingbats. These are SUPER cute from ScrapVillage. There are lots of other dingbats, cute Christmas snow flakes, flowers, leaves, etc. that you can color. Isn’t this haunted house neat? Print them out or if you have one of those die cut machines that hooks up to a computer, you can die cut them easily.
  3. Halloween Dingbats

If you’ve never installed a font before, read the instructions here. How I usually do it (at least from ScrapVillage since it links directly to the ttf file and not a zipped file) is to right click on font/dingbat I like and select Save As and then I will browse to my C drive, the my Windows folder and in there find and open the Font folder. Plop it in. My computer is set to remember the last place I downloaded a particular file type to so the next time around, I just click save since the window will automatically open up to the fonts folder.

  4. If you’re not satisfied, check out more Halloween stuff at daFont. These fonts/dingbats are in zipped/compressed folders. So you want to right click and save to your desktop first and then on the desktop right click and then select the “Extract” option. Then you want to save the items that’s in the extracted folder to the c:\\windows\fonts folder.
  5. There are 40% coupons for Michaels and Joann’s this weekend. Archiver sent me a 30% and Hobby Lobby has 50% scrapbooking (includes stickers) and 30% markers – includes Copics! HB also has a 25% coupon. Not great but if you got to have something then it’s better than nothing.

Alright, have a great weekend! Will pop in again sometimes this weekend. Going to bed so that we, M and I, can shop (or more like drive around) till we drop. We’re dropping the dad off at the car show still. He still wants to go see it. Poor guy!!!
