Signing Gal

IMG_9620ps.jpg Happy Sunday!!! If you’re like me, there’s one more day of staying at home, YES!!! I am taking a grading break. I have more students this semester and I do read each word and every period. I love using Acrobat Pro to delete, highlight, insert, and more on their paper. It’s my high tech red marker {::SMILES}.

This was a page I did last weekend. The Making Memories Travel paper is already busy and so to not cover up what’s already there, I only used a little bit of elements and a lot of Type. That little bird… I trimmed out a coupon from Studio Calico. They always use the prettiest paper and element for their ads/promo and I always save them for a project. Love the birdie!! The bottom right are Amy Butler’s embellishments and the left is scrap MM paper and KI button with more Amy Butler in between.

Under the title it said: You Signed.

The picture was Emma signing “all done.” She loved and still loves bath time. Every she’s done, she always say that she’s all done. The title came from Scrapping to Music. I thought it was just perfect for this picture that I’ve been wanting to scrap.

Ok, ta ta for now. Going to watch disc 3 of season 1 Heroes. I’ve watched the first two shows online and have always wanted to see the rest. When M and I picked hubby up at his friend’s (he walked home to his friend’s apartment — I was not motivated to pick him up at 2 a.m., ha!) I saw the series and he said we could borrow them. YEAH! This is the first time that hubby’s seen it and he’s getting addicted to it he he…

FREEBIES and Jane died

Posted on | August 30, 2008 | 2 Comments

Jane, hubby’s “older” woman died. He took it to the shop after she wouldn’t switch gears and Friday afternoon, the mechanic got it running, took it on a test drive and she just quit as if she ran out of gas. So, guess who was feeling uber super depressed? Uhuh! To make him feel better, we got some comfort food for dinner: fried catfish, okra, fries, and hushpuppies (hubby’s from Mississippi — I guess it’s a Southern thing). After that… I’m at home and he’s probably half drunk downtown somewhere. He called his friend since he wasn’t ready to come home.

I want to share a few things. If you have nothing else better to do this long weekend or this is just that special weekend for you to do LOTS of arts and crafts or need to shop, one of these might be for you…

  1. My first template: PDF, SVG (for Cricut, I think), or JPG. This is the tree template that I used in M’s card with all the butterflies.
  2. Not huge on Halloween but need to do a few Halloweenie projects? Well, why not use Dingbats. These are SUPER cute from ScrapVillage. There are lots of other dingbats, cute Christmas snow flakes, flowers, leaves, etc. that you can color. Isn’t this haunted house neat? Print them out or if you have one of those die cut machines that hooks up to a computer, you can die cut them easily.
  3. Halloween Dingbats

If you’ve never installed a font before, read the instructions here. How I usually do it (at least from ScrapVillage since it links directly to the ttf file and not a zipped file) is to right click on font/dingbat I like and select Save As and then I will browse to my C drive, the my Windows folder and in there find and open the Font folder. Plop it in. My computer is set to remember the last place I downloaded a particular file type to so the next time around, I just click save since the window will automatically open up to the fonts folder.

  4. If you’re not satisfied, check out more Halloween stuff at daFont. These fonts/dingbats are in zipped/compressed folders. So you want to right click and save to your desktop first and then on the desktop right click and then select the “Extract” option. Then you want to save the items that’s in the extracted folder to the c:\\windows\fonts folder.
  5. There are 40% coupons for Michaels and Joann’s this weekend. Archiver sent me a 30% and Hobby Lobby has 50% scrapbooking (includes stickers) and 30% markers – includes Copics! HB also has a 25% coupon. Not great but if you got to have something then it’s better than nothing.

Alright, have a great weekend! Will pop in again sometimes this weekend. Going to bed so that we, M and I, can shop (or more like drive around) till we drop. We’re dropping the dad off at the car show still. He still wants to go see it. Poor guy!!!

Friday Scrap Page

PL #95 - Dino Dig Yeah, yeah, yeah! Friday!!! Then it’s a three day weekend. Guess what I’ll be doing besides go to KC… PAINT! I got me some gray paint (the color name: Software. How perfect is that?!?!) for the master bathroom. There really isn’t a lot to paint so hopefully it’ll go fast. I got the Sherwin Williams Duramax too so it should be a nice and smooth process.

You guys gave me some hard times with my dress size {::SMILES}. I don’t like form fitting outfits so for daily wear, I usually wear my size or a size bigger. But when it comes to formal (personal or business) or form fitting stuff, I try to find my size because… I am no hour glass gal. I am a pencil {::SMILES}. If I get a strapless dress, I need to make sure that it’s either my size or a size smaller. If not, I can’t hold it up, ha! My co-worker and I always joke about finding a two-in-one deal, go to a week’s “conference” and come back with a sudden growth spurt. Ha ha!

K, ’nuff about me size… This layout… Emma was at Science City digging up some dinosaur. Look at that, she found one, ha!! We had a fun time that day. She was scared at first, so many stimulation and kids, but after a few minutes of exploring, she loved it. I used my June Scarlet Lime kit. The background paper is Making Memories. I used a Pencil Line sketch for it: #95. This is an old sketch. I love scrapbook challenges. I do them, but hardly ever on time.

Have a great Friday. More later!

PS: Thanks for the emails on where to go (I think I’ve replied to each email… but just in case…). Will check those shops out this weekend!!

FREE Design Class

Yes, and it’s by the AWESOME Bad Girls kit club.
I DROOOL over their CTs creations.

It’s FREE so you should!
It’s a class and competition.
There will be a new technique taught every week.
You have a week to submit something based on the technique.
Each week they’ll determine if you move up to the next level.
But, even if you don’t move up, you can still learn each week’s technique.

I know I won’t make it all the way for two reasons.
My sis’s wedding is in Oct. so I’ll be dropping out of the competition portion then.
And, my skills and creativity are still average.
But, I’m still going to learn the techniques each and every week.
I’m participating to improve my skills and the competition I can’t avoid.

COME ON!!!
No need to buy their kit to participate.
Class starts the 8th and registration ends the day before – or so – I think.

Another Color Challenge

Crazy 4 You Card Just want to post little card. I used Kristina’s colors, #20, for this. Chocolate Chip, certainly celery, regal rose, pretty in pink, and very vanilla. I don’t have my SU order yet (it just got shipped, YES!) so still waiting.

It’s Thursday, YEAH! Which means…. yes, almost FRIDAY!!! I can’t wait to go to the city. I need to get me some good food and some craft goodies (got coupons for all three stores, Archivers, HB, and JA)!!! Oh, clothes shopping too.

Do any of you know which store has a great sale right now for cocktail/semi-formal wear? I need something nice for my sister’s wedding. No color restriction. I haven’t gone clothes shopping in a looooong time. Been consigning and just haven’t found the right dress for the occassion. I need a petite, size 0-3/xs or s, and under $100. Last year I found a dress at BCBG for $98. I guess I can try there, they always seem to have my size. Do you know if they’re having a great sale? THANKS!!!

Ok, have a great one. Again, gotta go to work.
