You're InvitedAt work I’m a member of the professional staff council and every year we have a breakfast or lunch and we’d send out e-vites to all professional staff and special guest except for one. Every year (at least the last three years that I’ve been a part of the meet and greet group) I’ve been the one to create the e-vites and the mail invite. I love my e-vite. I geeked it out using ColdFusion programming and you can r.s.v.p. online, it’ll refuse to let you r.s.v.p. twice, it’ll send you an email confirmation with notes on how to cancel, a cancellation page, a page for me to monitor who responded, a reminder, and a page to print everything out pretty. I love it. But, I also love the fact that there is this one, the most special guest, that needs to be invited the good old way. Here’s her invite.

Don’t you just love this Cuttlebug embossing template? It’s sooooo elegant!!! The card is super easy to make. Kraft paper that was embossed and then a strip of pattern (1.5″) with a couple card stock (1″ each). Then I wrapped the ribbon around the card stock. For the sentiment, I used a 3×1 3/4 brown card stock and I trimmed two tan paper 1/4″ smaller than the previous (or bottom) layer. Gives it an embossed look doesn’t it? I could have used my Nestabilities template but first I couldn’t find it (I cleaned my desk) and second it probably wouldn’t have the right size. So I did it manually and it gave me the look I want.

I had a hard time with the ribbon tie. The card looked good either way, with or without. I could have centered the sentiment and no ribbon tying, but I thought the recipient would love it better with the tie. It’d be more her. Hard decision - if I had to make another one, especially if it’s for mass mailing, e.g. a wedding, I’d just center the sentiment and be done with it. Saves on postage. Looking at it from here, I see a lot of different varieties of this. The brown card stock under the sentiment could have gone under the ribbon. The left of the sentiment could have been punched with the oval punch and the ribbon can go through it. I could have added some brads, etc. For the sentiment, I used pop-dots instead of glue. Makes it stand out a bit, not so flat. All items are from Stampin’ Up!

I really like how it turned out. I hope it looks professional and also elegant for the occasion.
