Tut: Create a Your Own Brad

Posted on | February 29, 2008 | 3 Comments

Finally, a tutorial! {::SMILES}

It’s just been a crazy week. Being sick, all of us, and then trying to catch up is always a no fun thing to do. M is still down. Her flu-like illness is gone but now she’s left with an ear infection. Her ear drums, or something minor, in there broke due to her coughs, sneezes, and nose blowing. She said her ear, left, hurt and for the 2nd time today we had to take her to the doctor — the ear wasn’t filled with goop or blood earlier this morning. Poor baby. She should feel a lot better by tomorrow — the Amoxycillin stuff works pretty well on her.

But here’s a video and hope it’ll be beneficial for you. I used a brad for my example but really, you can use this same technique to create chipboard like alphas and more. Try it out!

Also, if you hear some crazy noise in the background, blame it on the dogs. It’s pass their dinner time — they were really trying to tell me by being rambunctious.

My Secret Sister

My LootIt’s Catherine! Today Mr. Brown dropped off this huge package. I don’t remember ordering anything but on the return address I saw her name. She’s so sweet! She sent me a lot of stuff and I actually forgot to add two things, she sent me a wooden “S” that I can’t wait to decorate (hubby’s priming it!) and pink ribbons.

The blue fish net looking thing… I already have a scrapbook idea for it. I can’t wait to get going on it. I’m also going to use the acrylic stampsĀ  and pink ribbons she sent me too for the LO.

BirdsNow, aren’t the two cards she made me gorgeous? I LOVE the owl but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVe the card with the birds. She free hand the swirls AND there are flowers in the center of the birds. Gorgeous!

So, Catherine. THANK YOU!!! It’s been fun and I really love every single thing you sent. You are so good with the embossing!

Owl CardNow, if you’re here looking for the tutorial. Well, I accidently published my previous post before the video was approved by Revver. The way WordPress is set up, I can edit the time stamp and tell WordPress to publish in a few hours (usually I just set it for midnight) or when Revver approves my video. But, I forgot to edit the time stamp and so the page got published minus the video. So I hid the post for now until Revver approves the video. If you’re subscribe to my blog through the RSS feed… well, you saw my post and it’ll stay in the reader. You’ll just have to come back in a few hours for the video. Sorry about that!

Owls

Owl FriendsAren’t these owls CUUUUUTE? I love them! I love all three of my owls and I want more and I already know what I want too, SASSAFRAS LASS!!! I love their stuff but up to now I’ve only been drooling at others’ craft work that used Sassafras because there is no local store that sells this brand here — or none that I know of and I haven’t had the chance to buy online because I didn’t think spending $2 on paper and $6 shipping was worth it. But now, these stamps are worth the shipping!

I used SCS’s Tuesday color challenge for my choice of colors: Black, River Rock, and Whisper White aka white. The card’s not hard to do, just two layers of cardstock on the base, stamp and color some owls, cut a cirle, add some sentiments and I used my white Making Memory paint for the clouds. I somewhat missed my scissors and so today we bonded a little bit. I like it, a bit different than my usual cards.

SS3The second item is my secret sister card. I received this a few weeks ago but I just never got it up on to the blog. I love it and whoever she is, she’s very good at embossing. So clean! Also, everything on the card is stamped. I haven’t quite master that yet and so to me, this is fabulous.

So just two things today. I’ll have more later. My desk is super messy again. Got to clean up before I do another project. I have one more A Muse set to play with, two Bellas, and a few Stampin’ Up! items that I haven’t used from my last order. Yeah tomorrow is Friday. M and I are going out Saturday with my friend the birthday girl. Sushi time!!

My A Muse and Bellas

Posted on | February 28, 2008 | 7 Comments

I am branching out more. Today I just received my orders from A Muse and Stamping Bella (about time). The Bellas took almost 3 weeks to get here. I chose super pokey cheapest mail from Canada. Oh well — I was trying to save $1, ha! I wasn’t in a hurry but I’m so happy they’re here! From A Muse I got the Nature and the Coffee Break sets. They are clear acrylic stamps. I found out about them from Amy’s blog. Isn’t the Internet amazing this way? From Stamping Bella, I got the pregabella and the cosmobella. They’re so cute and the one I did, I colored her with my Stampin’ Up! markers and she looks fabulous. I love my Bellas! Did I tell you I bought some PaperTrey Ink stamps too? I bought the Mixed Messages set. The set has a lot of little verse — so little for some. They all stamp really well and storage is super compact compare to wood mount. But I do still love my wood stamps; I just love how they handle. Oh so many stuff! I just saw some Prima stamps today — I like! Oh, my bill for Studio Calico came today. I can’t wait to get my March kit!! Lookie, lookie… isn’t the kit gorgeous?!?! I think that’s all I’ll buy next month. Between Christmas and the last shopping I think I’ve gathered enough to last me a few months. I’ll just do my monthly Studio Calico and be happy.

So nothing to show you today. I should probably do a digi page for the folks I’m guest-ing for in their Creative Team group. In a few days I will not be a guest CT for Manu. I love her stuff. I’m not sure if I want to apply for something else or just wait. Now, this weekend, I almost forgot, I have one of the hostess for Virtual Scrapbook Night at SCS. I’ll be hosting this Saturday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. I’ll have some challenges for you so check it out. You might think it sounds odd, scrapbooking virtually, but it’s quite fun. I did this at Creating Keepsakes during Christmas break and last week at the SCS VSBN Preview and it was quite motivating.

I did make a card but I can’t show you until later. The cards for my good friend and she reads my blog — she’s probably the only person who knows me personally who reads my blog. Well maybe Lisa in England does — Lisa, you reading this? Ha! So… I want my friend to see her birthday card first and not via the WWW.

Have a great night and I’ll post a video either tomorrow or Friday. Laters!

Pencil Lines Sketch and a Card

Posted on | February 26, 2008 | 7 Comments

You and MePat in the back to me. I finished a scrapbook page, NOT digital, in a few hours. This is almost record time {::SMILES}. So here it is. This is sketch #72. Isn’t this a lovely sketch? I love it and I love the result. Especially because I got to use one of my current favorite Stampin’ Up! stamp set “Always”, I got to do some doodling, I made my own arrow (after three tries), I also used Time Well Spent butterfly stamp (two stamp set in one LO!), and for the first time I used my SU glitters (see the hearts on the LO). Let me tell ya about these glitters — they get on EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING I tell you. My floor, from my office/craft room to the bedroom and bathroom, has glitters! Hubby gave me a gnight hug earlier and regretted it. Ha ha… If anybody has any tip on how to do glitters without getting them all over, by all means, please let me know!

You and MeFirst the credits:

Solid paper: Bazzill (it’s behind the main background paper)
Pattern paper: The Paper Company is the background. I bought this years ago from Archivers. The flower that I cut out behind all the left side embellishment is … Window Collection (the first part got cut). The yellow floral and the black and white paper in the center of the blue flower are from 7Gypsie. The see through purple/blue floral paper is unknown, the tag I found in my stash, and the card stock is Stampin’ Up!
Stamps: Always and Time Well Spent
Embellishments: K & Company chipboard, Prima florals, Making Memories blue floral, Making Memories brad, Making Memories ribbon, SEI button, glitter glue, and SU glitters adhere with Heat and Stick Powder on Versamark.
Ink: SU craft white and classic black.
Pen: White Uni-ball Signo and Staedler 05 drawing and writing marker
Glue: ATG 1/4 Gold

Ok, I think I got everything.

You and MeI didn’t think I had any pictures but I found a stash that I was wanting to scrapbook some while back that I forgot about (as usual). I have a few more pictures and I have a few things that I can use — well I have more than a few things but ya know, don’t like using the same thing too often or too much. This picture was actually taken Oct. 20th, 2007 and not May. I thought it was from our trip to Hermann, MO but it was actually from last homecoming. I made the change on my LO but don’t feel like taking another picture just for that. M’s teacher took this photo — that’s why I’m in the picture. We were waiting for Drew to drive by with the ’62 Impala but that never happened. The old lady got overheated a block away from us. Imagine that! It couldn’t go another block. It’s been sitting in the garage ever since. Hubby just hasn’t found the time to really fix it. I think it’s running now but it can’t go anywhere far or maybe can’t go anywhere at all… ha ha… shows you how much I know. It’s a good looking car, just isn’t running {::Sigh}.

Happy BirthdayThis card I made a couple weeks ago. It was for M’s friend. I cased my own card since I was too lazy to come up with a new design. I think maybe because it’s a 4-yr-old’s birthday and who knows what she did to the card. But I made it because I just love to and M thought it was the cutest thing for her little best friend.

Speaking of, M’s still sick. Poor baby. Took her to the doc and they gave her a nose medicine and lots of advice. They said no medicine can get rid of her sickness. She just needs lots of fluid, rest, and food if possible. Tonight is the first night that she hasn’t woken up every hour. She’s been sleeping in the office since 10 p.m. and has only woken up once. Oh I hope! Tomorrow dad’s staying with her and on Wednesday and Thursday if she’s still sick, I’m going to come home early so that hubby can go to his special swing shift schedule.

Ok, have a great night. I should go to bed — got to work tomorrow. Wow, feels like I’ve been gone for a loooooong time!
