Masculine Card

Posted by Savitri

Happy Birthday dad!I made this card for my dad. He lives in Indonesia, that’s where all my family are except for my sister and a cousin or two. His birthday is the day after M’s. Actually, if M was born in Indonesia, they’d have the same birth date since Indonesia is 12 hrs ahead of us.

I’m not very good at masculine cards so this is as masculine as I could get. I like the ribbon. It’s brown, so kind of manly, right?

I used my Cuttlebug (I really love using it to emboss) and my old designer paper from SU. The stamp is “Love It” and I think it’s one of last year’s hostess yet. I used my paper piercing tool on the brown cardstock, I love this tool too, and a brown satin ribbon from Joann’s.

I hope my dad likes it. This is the first handmade card I’ve ever made for him. Really bad, huh? I usually just send him a text message and a phone call or a Hallmark card, a text message, and a phone call.

Ok, I got tag’d by KathleenH. She’s one of my blog sisters. It’s five things on different items. If you care to read about, click the link below.

Let me try to fill this out…

Five things I was doing 10 years ago
1. I was in my first house
2. I worked for a bank
3. I was introduced to scrapbooking
4. I was introduced to organic/natural food
5. I was living in Idaho

Five things on my to do list today
1. Have a (fun) dinner date with my M — dad’s helping out at the school tonight
2. Login to my online classroom to update my courses and maybe grade
3. Do my French homework - I am auditing a class but I’d feel bad if I don’t do my homework like the other kids
4. Make a birthday card for my dad and stick in my purse to mail out
5. Like any other nights, play with M and the pups

Five things I will do when I’m a millionaire
1. Invest half of the millions in our retirement account
2. Put $200k in M’s college fund and hope that the market goes back up again (Tuesday the 22nd was THE day to buy, buy, buy… buy I guess — hopefully not — it can come down again)
3. Put $50k more in M’s misc. fund, wedding and first house down payment… whatever
4. Pay off my house and build a nice craft room and garage with every tools in it
5. Buy the husband a nice classic

Five things I’ll never wear again
1. My mom permed my hair when I was in 1st grade up to junior high. Never again.
2. Clothes that doesn’t fit me well
3. This is more of what I’ll never do again… buy clothes that are in season. They go out of season so fast.
4. None stylish boots
5. Hmmm….

Five of my favorite toys
1. My iMac and its variety of awesome software — I just got a 2008 MacHeist Bundle too :D
2. My Canon DSLR
3. My Cuttlebug
4. My craft tools
5. All the gadgets in my office :D

Five banes of my existence
1. Insincerity
2. Laziness
3. Selfishness
4. Dumbness
5. Ignorance

I really like this masculine card. The colors work very well together and it is a simple, yet a classy layout. Very nice job!
